GUINNESS® LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION LABEL TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE SUPER EAGLES

For the first time ever, GUINNESS® today revealed a limited edition Guinness® label. Featuring the colours of the Nigerian national flag, the new distinctive label has been created specifically to show support for the Super Eagles and the belief that together – win or lose – 11 men and 150 million Nigerians can unite in the power of the Nigerian spirit as we enter the next stage of the African Cup of Nations and build up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

 

Guinness® is the official beer of the Super Eagles and bottles featuring the limited edition label will be on sale in bars across Nigeria from December and will remain on sale until end of February.

The limited edition label is the only change to Guinness. The price, the much loved and distinctive roasted bitter taste, dark colour and special aroma of Guinness and the shape, size and design of the bottle will all stay the same.

 

The unveiling of this unique label was made at an official presentation to the Super Eagles at Guinness HQ.  During their visit the Guinness® brand team wished them well as they head off to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup draws and presented a cheque to NFF President, Mr Sani Lulu accompanied by Secretary General Bolaji Ojooba, Assistant coach Daniel Amokachi amongst others to mark the continuing Guinness® sponsorship of the team.  Guinness Greatness Ambassador Jay Jay Okocha also took part in the celebrations.

This new label clearly establishes Guinness® as the only beer of choice to show support for the Super Eagles.”

 

These initiatives are part of the Guinness® Football Reach For Greatness programme that recognises the Greatness in African football – the game, the players and the fans – and Nigeria’s national pride and passion for football.

 

                                                                                                                       

 

 

Other new Guinness® Football initiatives are being introduced during the year including the recently unveiled Guinness® Football Fiesta - a brand new football viewing experience for all lovers of the beautiful game and Guinness® drinkers in bars across Nigeria that focus around dedicated Guinness® mobile viewing centres.  The vans, specially equipped with giant LED screens and sound systems, will tour the country bringing together live football broadcasts pre-match, half time and post match entertainment. This will mean Guinness® and football fans can unite and enjoy a total Guinness® Football Greatness experience during key EPL, CAN and FIFA world cup matches. 

Guinness® will also continue to participate actively in the broadcasts of English Premier League matches in Nigeria and across Africa and work with our very own Guinness® Greatness Ambassador Jay Jay Okocha.
