The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Tomi Somefun as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc. This is coming on the heels of the departure of Henry J. Semenitari, who resigned his appointment with the Bank last month. The confirmation of Mrs. Tomi Somefun was contained in a letter to the Bank dated August 10, 2015, signed by its Director of Banking Supervision. An experienced professional with a depth of experience and knowledge of the Finance Industry, Tomi has over three decades of cognate experience of which 26 years were in the Banking Sector. She started her career in Accounting and Financial Consulting with Peat Marwick & Co, and subsequently Arthur Andersen & Co (now KPMG). Sex workers in Abeokuta organized a protest to raise awareness over the disappearance and killings of their members. FCMB Group Plc on Wednesday declared a profit after tax of N8.3bn for the half-year ended June 30, 2015, 13 per cent lower than the N9.576bn it made in the same period last year.
