ERNEST OBI STORM MORGON NIGHT WITH FIANCEE

Story & Photo by Niyi Tabiti
Chief Reporter
Controversial actor,Ernest Obi was one of the actors that stormed the morgon investiture ceremony for Andrien Gbinigie on Sunday 24 February 2008.The tall and handsome actor did not come alone. He came with a young lady who identified herself as his fiancee.
When http://www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com/ approached her for a chat, she revealed her name as Miss Evi Oki, a graduate of Linguistics from Delta State University, Abraka. She also disclosed that she had been dating the actor for 5 years now.Moves to get her to talk about how she felt with the monumental scandal involving Ernest Obi met with a brickwall. "I don't want to talk about all that" she said
It should be recalled that few months back, the Nollywood gifted actor was accused by his wife, Joanne of taking undue sexual advantage of her 15 year old daughter (she happens to be Ernest Obi's step-daughter) while she (Joanne) was based abroad. So nasty was the accusation that alot of people asked the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to expel him from the fold.
At the height of the allegations were various Non-Governmental Organisatios (NGOs) putting together seminars to educate people on sexual abuse.
From all indications,Oki the lady in Ernest life appear to be confident of her man.Whether or not Ernest was trying to avoid our camera lense here is a story for another day.

'MADLY' OR 'MADNESSLY' IN LOVE?
Chief Reporter
I know this celebrity who runs his home like the government house. How do I mean? Whenever his live-in-lover offends him, he would place her on suspension. He will tell the ‘madly’ or is it ‘madnessly’ in love chic to proceed on a two week suspension.Throughout the two weeks, she is expected to go back to her parents home and she dare not call, send text or ask for anything until her suspension elapsed. She is also expected to submit the key to the house in her care.
If the guy refused plea for leniency, he would ask her to proceed on the ‘suspension with hard labour’.This is a situation where she would be in her parents home for the two weeks but she can be called upon at anytime by the guy to come and wash his clothes or cook. Failure to comply with the orders could lead to 'rustication'.See how 'madnessly' or madly in love some people can just be.If you are in love please shine your eyes!

On her relationship with Joseph Yobo, the British based international football star, Uche said they are still friends though they are no longer dating. “Yobo is no more in my life but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends” she said. Stressing further that her relationship with another Port Harcourt based businessman has since crashed also.
“So what does Uche really want in a man?” I asked. “I am not gunning for a man who can buy me a Ferrari and all that. What I simply want is a caring man who is just comfortable” she said amidst laughter.
On the ‘worst dressed’ label that was slammed on her following what she wore to This Day award,Uche disclosed that she is well in tune with Hollywood fashion.
“I wonder why people are saying that I didn’t dress well to the award.Look, I buy international fashion magazines regularly and I try to wear the latest as defined by Hollywood stars. Victoria Beckham wore that same dress to an award. I know that Ciara also wore it in one her performances with 50 Cent”
“When I got to London, I didn’t see the purple type that Victoria Beckham wore so I bought for the blue one.”

Muma Gee is one of Nigeria's hottest traditional singers. The kade exponent was at Legato Club last Night for D'jewels Star Quest winner album launch last night.Muma Gee gave us alot of reasons to 'salivate' about her pair of hot legs. The gown was simply short and she rove around the party venue to show all that 'I am hot!' or what do you think?
She left the venue within 20 minutes of her arrival.
In case you don't know, Lagato Club on Idowu Taylor Street,Victoria Island in Lagos used to be Club Towers or Club T.Then,it was operated by Prince Nasir Ado- Ibrahim.Gloria Ibru (one of the daughters of Olorogun Micheal Ibru) is the one in charge of Legato.

READ WHAT BOB DEWAR,BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER TO NIGERIA HAS TO SAY ABOUT LAGOS
Chief Reporter
I must confess that I was one of those that was so carried away about the Valentine's day. So,pardon me for not posting this earlier. It is the speech delivered by His Excellency,Mr.Bob Dewar at 'British'residence in Lagos. The man is so fanscinated about Lagos. The speech is unedited.I would have posted it on 14 February 2008 but the Valentine fever was too much.
SPEECH BY BOB DEWAR, HIGH COMMISSIONER, AT RECEPTION AT BRITISH RESIDENCE IN LAGOS
13 February 2008
I am very pleased to be able to welcome you here tonight at my first official Reception in Lagos.
I was delighted to be able to meet His Excellency the Governor yesterday and to be able to reaffirm the United Kingdom’s wish to work in partnership with Nigeria and with Lagos, on a basis of mutual respect and close, honest friendship, adding value where that is useful and helping transform this country. The 21st century brings new challenges for us all and we need to work together in a globalised world.
My first impressions of Lagos are of a very dynamic city, whether in business, politics, media, arts, music or film. I am very pleased to see so many of the British community here tonight and to thank them- and the hard working staff in the British Deputy High Commission under the leadership of Richard Powell- for all they are doing to contribute to economic growth and development in Lagos and in Nigeria. This is one of the largest cities in the world and so many British companies and institutions and citizens based here have brought significant skills, products and investment- including into a dynamic capital market- to contribute to the new Nigeria. That contribution extends to so many areas including the oil and gas sector, the expanding banking and finance sector, manufacturing and trade as well as services and communications. Lagos is a key hub for international and regional communications including to and from the UK. Indeed our relationship is built very much on history, shared experience and contacts in so many walks of life – but above all the links between people.
Thus our service delivery to Nigerian and UK citizens- our clients and customers- is a key part of what we do in Lagos. Our visa service has been overhauled to give a simple and efficient visa service to legitimate travellers, operating a system open to those who want to bring skills and talent to the UK, including through the Points Based system for highly skilled workers which will roll out in mid year- while ensuring that our laws and immigration rules are complied with.
Issuing visas- and doing it well- is important but there is so much more to our relationship. We have dynamic Trade and Investment and consular offices. We have very close political and economic ties –and so on. I would like to emphasise the great breadth and depth of our bilateral relations- in every domain, at every level, from State to institutions to individuals, from public to private sectors to civil society.
Perhaps a few examples would be of interest. I am very glad that the DFID and the British Council are playing such a useful part in Lagos as well as throughout Nigeria, whether stimulating transformation through development- and helping ensure resources are better used to benefit poorer members of society- or supporting partnerships and better understanding.
Eamon Cassidy Head of DFID Nigeria was telling me yesterday that DFID have been helping Lagos in budget planning, with a fast- track courts system and with the land registry- which can be a good practice model for other States- building on the strong commitment of Lagos State. And Peter Upton Director of the British Council was telling me that last year the Council worked with three quarter of a million Lagosians through conferences and on line services and access to professional development opportunities. Later this week he and Sir Graeme Davies, Vice Chancellor of the University of London, will mark the 150th Anniversary of the University of London here in Lagos – the University of London has long been extending high quality university education around the world including to Nigerians.
What more can we do to help? In very many ways, all of us can contribute. Returning to the subject of business- given that Lagos is the heartbeat of business in Nigeria- I feel sure the UK private sector for example can make a positive contribution by influencing standards of accountability and integrity within the overall management of the Nigerian economy.
On a wider plane, this 21st century offers new opportunities to create a rules-based international system together, founded on integrity and high standards. I admire Nigeria’s objectives of improving the climate for investment and in due course becoming one of the world’s top 20 economies. Firm application of the rule of law and the right policies, including fighting corruption robustly, ensuring compliance with international standards and creating the right infrastructure- including involving the private sector with good standards- could help bring real progress towards those goals.
So perhaps one of the best contributions we can make is indeed helping the upgrading of standards to international quality- with integrity and social and environmental responsibility. Doing so through our links, connections, our values, innovation and technology, our transfer of knowledge and experience.
There is a well known Nigerian saying that ‘minds are like parachutes: they only function when they are open’.
As London is already preparing for the 2012 Olympics and already changing itself into a low-carbon capital, so there are challenges and opportunities for the great cities in the developing world such as Lagos. I would be interested to know is there is yet much debate and awareness in Nigeria of climate change and the need for Nigeria to adapt in order to better cope with desertification or deforestation or sea level rise? Is there discussion of new ways of doing things that does not compromise growth but makes it greener and uses rather than wastes gas?
As I said at the outset my impression is that Lagos is such a vibrant city. From those I have met I know this applies across the board, to the dynamism of the media, the music and the arts world as much as to business and politics. Challenges there certainly are- the traffic included- but so many opportunities too.
There is much going on, much to learn, much to do together. It is a positive pleasure to be in Nigeria and Lagos. Many thanks indeed for being with us tonight.

YESTERDAY IN NIGERIA: BASKET MOUTH, PSQUARE,OMAWUNMI,OTHERS DAZZLE AT MALTA GUINNESS SHOW

Chief Reporter
Those who stormed the new Malta Guinness bottle launch party at Federal Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, yesterday (15 February 2008) would not forget the sweet experience in a hurry. Nigeria’s leading comedian, Bright Ikpocha popularly known as Basket Mouth and Psquare, the award winning musical group lived up to expectations as their fans kept asking for more.
Omawunmi, the first runner-up at West African Idol also proved that she is indeed a super star in the making by putting up a superlative performance. Dance Na the Main Thing (DNMT) also showed that they are the best anytime, any day.
Apart from Ali Baba who is regarded as the king of contemporary comedians in the country, Basket Mouth stands out because of he is very spontaneous and witty. He brings out the best in him by cracking jokes by relating to what his happening around him. There are several comedians who read jokes books or tell the same jokes more than 50 million times (pardon the exaggeration).Later, I will tell you some comedians and their popular jokes.
Basket Mouth gave good dosage of humour that sent the audience reeling with laughter every time he mounts the stage.
Omawunmi was not only sexy in her mind blowing gown, she also gave a superb performance.Omawunmi’s mum was moved to tears she saw the crowd hailing her daughter. She was the party in company of her friends such as Mrs.Uwase.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Psquare was too tight. The duo of Peter and Paul Okoye ( Psquare) shook the entire foundation of Federal Hotel, even the fishes at the lagoon front were the party was held could not stop dancing. They did several of their hit songs such as Ifunaya, Buzy Bodi, temptation and others. The peak of their performance was “e get as he do me do me…if you do me I do you, man no go vex...”
Mr.Tunde Falase, the marketing Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc was very happy at the turn of event. He said the party is just a little of the ‘goodness’ experience that Malta Guinness promotes. Malta Guinness is now bigger and better. The bottle has also been changed.

I HATE BANKS
Chief Reporter
I am upset..very,very,very....upset!After all the plans that I made towards the Val Day, my date messed the whole thing up.She works with one of Nigeria's commercial banks. There was no way she could make it because they close late. The bombshell is that she has to be home early so that she can wake up at 5 a.m for tommorrow's work.I hate banks...no consideration for someone who wants to have a val day outing. It is work, work and work.
I was booking an alternative date with Wienna, even if she is in New York or London,we would still talk on the phone but http://www.omosewa.blogspot.com/ spoilt the whole thing with her comment. She allege that I was already cheating on my date.I am sure that omosewa girl has sharp tongue.People, help me beg her to stop 'poke-nosing' into my relationship.
I just pray that it is still going to be a sweet experience. My friend promised to come and pick me for 'point and kill'.What we call point and kill in Lagos is catfish. When you get to the restaurant, you see catfish swimming in a container. You point at the one that you prefer and they will cook it for you instantly.
Right now, I am not in the mood to write any gist.My date and her bank spoilt the whole thing.I knew she closes late but I had faith that things would work out.The bible says 'The just shall live by faith.I wish the National Assembly can sponsor a bill so that Val day would be declare a public holiday.
Don't think it is paining me o....!If you think so, you have a right to freedom of expression.
N.B-Following massive reports, mails and telephone calls,I want to inform the loyal readers of this blog that henceforth, I would not permit the use of vulgar words or comments found to be mischievious, malicious and frivolous on this blog.I found out that some people try to settle scores by posting comments that are not even relevant to issues at stake.People abuse personalities without facing issues at stake. If someone had wronged you, call the person on the phone and settle. You can even abuse the person,it is nobody's business. This is not the platform.
The purpose of this blog is to promote a proudly Nigerian vision, showcase Nigerian talents and also gist about Nigerian talents.I want to promote an information and friendship network.
Please, let comments be issue based and not abusive.
I beg you all!

NIKE OSHINOWO... MISSING IN ACTION

Nike drove the car that brought her and her husband into the polo club. However; it was only her husband Dr.Tunde Soleye and Ene Lawani (The young lady that won the last Miss Nigeria beauty peagent) that stepped out. We waited for so long but Nike did not stepped out. Nike did not show up in the VIP lounge.Ene sat beside the highly connected medical doctor throughout. Why is 'aunty' Nike evading the VIP Lounge?
Ex-Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Nike Oshinowo, could easily pass as Nigeria’s most photographed celebrity woman. She is also one of the most glamorous. Everything she does caught attention and paparazzi would do anything just to get her photograph while men worship at her feet, even if it means giving a jeep in exchange for a handshake (Some men are so lustful to the point that they would give out a brand new car just to lick a lady's feet)
Perhaps, she was a bit confused with the array of suitors that kept ‘worshipping’ at her feet to the point that she married when she was already 41.She had the normal traditional do with Dr.Tunde Soleye on 1 January 2007.Now,the man’s legal wife has sued for divorce. The woman is not happy that all attention has been diverted to Nike.

VALENTINE FEVER GRIP NIGERIANS
Chief Reporter
It is just 2 days to the much talked about Valentine’s Day. Lovers out there are getting prepared for a super date. To a lot of youth, they are very much concerned about what to say, what to write, where to go and what to wear. Some people believe that sex should top their agenda. Take it or leave it, more sexual activities tend to take place on that day than any other day. I once asked myself if February 14 is actually a Val day or Sex day? (Help me out here) .
I don’t believe sex is a do or die affair.A 29 year old 'macho' guy once collapsed in my area after having sex with a 'tiny' babe who is just 18.The guy was rushed to the hospital.Till now, people still make reference to that episode. All the guys have deserted the girl.
Believe me, it is a wonderful experience doing it with someone you truly love but it is not all that a relationship entails. Personally, I appreciate ‘just the two of us’ kind of a thing…you know, gisting and laughing without anyone there.Hmmm… I appreciate cards a lot. I still have cards that friends gave to me many years back. In Lagos, love is in the air. Everywhere you go, you will see the sign.
I went to eat at Tantalizers today and I overheard this guy. He was trying to impress this ‘chic’ but the babe kept going off target.
“Baby, you are ferociously sexy” the guy said with so much excitement
“What do you mean by that? Don’t you know that to be ferocious means very wicked or brutal?” the babe asked
“Yes, that is what I mean. You are wickedly sexy!”
“How do you dare say that? If I am wicked, that means I am bad.So, what are you doing with me?”, the girl asked again with spark in her eyes showing that she was not happy.
“Yes, you got it. Baby, you are baaaaaaad!”
“How do you mean?” the girl exclaimed
The young man who is now feeling like a Yankee returnee told the girl “In America, we usually say the opposite. When something is too good, we say, it is damn toooooo baaaaaad. So, baby, you are bad. I repeat you are baaaaad!”
Trust Lagos chic, she started feeling like one Agbani Darego or Halle Berry. I looked at the guy and I knew he was not sincere at all because the babe is so ugly that…
Now, I have solved the problem of what to tell my ‘date’ on Val day. I have retained everything in my brain starting from “Baby, you are ferociously sexy….!”
It is going to be our first date and I am already very naive. Should I ask for a kiss? (Is that not going to make the Val outing remarkable?)
I think omosewa and Linda Ikeji should be able to help me out here because they are the ones that love writing about all this ‘love, love stuff’
Trust me to give you gist on celebrities and their Val outings.
ANKARA VIBES

Chief Reporter
Nigerian women are making beautiful designs out of Ankara.Yeah! It’s cheap but Nigerians are proud to associate with it. Check out the pictures and you will understand what I mean by Ankara vibes.
Let us also appreciate our tailors for their creativity. Some of them are at per with world class fashion designs in New York, London, Paris, Italy and other fashion capitals in the world. The only problem is that they don’t have the resources to withstand the challenges.
There are some ‘fashion designers’ in Nigeria today that cannot handle a pin let alone work on the machine. What they do is hire a ‘street’ tailor who is got the magic!
