News of the fine imposed on GTBank London operations by British financial regulator turned into 'beer parlour' celebration for those determined to put clog in the wheel of the bank's progress by every means.
   
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) disclosed that between May 2008 and July 2010, GTBank UK had failed to assess potential money-laundering risks, screen customers against sanction lists, establish the purpose of the accounts being opened in their London branch or review the activity of "high risk" accounts.

CONTRACT STAFF PROTEST IN PROMASIDOR NIGERIA

Contract staff working with Promasidor in Nigeria yesterday protested what they described as delay in payment of their salaries.
 As a result of the protest, the management of Promasidor invited policemen to forestall a break down of law and order, which might lead to damages of the company properties. 
  Gistmaster gathered that two companies hire contract staff who work mostly in the production department for promasidor.One is known as Global Manpower while the other is called Sustainability.
  Those employed by Global Manpower have been paid their May salaries on the 23 May but those employed through Sustainability are yet to be paid. Sources hinted that the recent development is giving room to suspicions about politics in Promasidor, especially between the management of Sustainability and Global Manpower in a bid to out do one another in the business of staff sourcing.Sustainability is allegedly owned by

GTBANK MD, TAYO ADERINOKUN IS DEAD

The managing director of GTBank, Mr. Tayo Aderinokun is dead. He died in a London Hospital.

When Gistmaster.com sought the comment of the corporate affairs department of the bank today, his death was confirmed.

Mr. Aderinokun has been on sick leave from work for sometime. Mr. Segun Agbaje, an executive director with the bank was made the acting MD last month.

Aderinokun's 57th birthday was celebrated with prayers by staff of GTBank at their various places of worship on 8 May 2011.

The official statement from GTBanks reads "With a deep sense of loss, but with gratitude to the Almighty God, we write to notify you of the passing on to eternal glory of our dearly beloved Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tayo Aderinokun.

Mr. Aderinokun who had been on Medical Leave, passed on this afternoon, Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Aderinokun co-founded Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in 1990 and served as Deputy Managing Director for 12 years between 1990 and 2002, after which he became the Managing Director, a position he held until his passing.

During his time as Managing Director, the Bank witnessed tremendous progress and growth and had emerged over the years as an industry leader, pacesetter of unique and progressive innovations in the banking industry. The Bank is now easily acknowledged and recognised as one of the most profitable and professionally managed corporate institutions in Nigeria and has been the recipient of several awards for exemplary corporate governance practices and excellent customer service.

In addition, Mr. Aderinokun was also the recipient of numerous awards as an acknowledgment of his sterling leadership role in the achievements of the Bank. The awards include ‘Banker of the Year’ at the inaugural ThisDay Awards in 2006, Most Respected CEO by PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2008 and ‘African Banker of the Year’ by the “African Banker” magazine in September 2009. He was also a recipient of the National Award of Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria (FCIB).

We wish to inform you that the operations of the Bank continue to run smoothly under the leadership of the Acting Managing Director, Mr. Segun Agbaje who was Deputy Managing Director from 2002 till April 20, 2011, when he was appointed as Acting Managing Director of the Bank.

STAFF, FRIENDS PRAY FOR GTBANK BOSS TAYO ADERINOKUN AS HE CLOCKS 57 TODAY

 GTBANK staff within and outside Nigeria set today aside as a special day of prayer for Mr. Tayo Aderinokun, the Managing Director of GTBANK who is presently recuperating from illness.
 Today, 8 May 2011 is the 57th  birthday anniversary of the bank chief.
 At the moment, Mr. Segun Agbaje, one of GTBank executive directors is now acting managing director.
Aderinokun is regarded as one of Nigeria's most brilliant bank executives Nigeria has ever produced.Most of those gistmaster.com spoke with wish Aderinokun soonest recovery.A source told gistmaster. that people should pray for the man who has made invaluable contributions to the economy instead of wishing him dead by peddling rumours.
