NOLLYWOOD PRODUCER,TCHIDI CHIKERE SAYS DEBT STORY IS ALL LIES

[caption id="attachment_6654" align="alignleft" width="200" caption="Tchidi Chikere"][/caption]

Ace and celebrated multiple award winning movie director, writer, producer and actor has responded to those peddling the story currently circulating on the internet that he is in a 5 million naira debt as low life failures looking to achieve cheap publicity using his name.

“ I would usually not even respond to such hogwash, but let me just say this, the story is false, baseless and the worst is I don’t even know where it is coming from! In this business of show biz, you sometimes hear things about yourself that make you wonder if there are two of you,  some things I hear and I wonder if I have been cloned while I slept, and  another Tchidi Chikere operating and doing things somewhere else.

It all goes to show how the internet is being misused and it is very unfortunate. The cyberspace is free and you can write anything, any witch hunt piece against anybody you don’t like his face etc and post it on the internet and people will read it and believe it. You can write that the President was drunk in your crib last night and post it on the internet under some fictitious pen name or blog and the gullible world of today will believe you.

Every Tom, Dick or Harry is a blogger these days. No one calls you, no one makes the effort to hear your take on tales about you, yet when they write, they quote you!  My lawyers have been looking for the gentleman/or people who started that very libelous story but they can’t find him. I charge the people peddling that story to be bold and come forward and my lawyers will slam a very huge libel suit against them in a court of law.  We have laws in this country and you just don’t rub mud on innocent names and think you can get away with it for long. If we don’t catch you, karma will catch you.  I’ve worked my life out to be who I am today and balderdash like this will not discredit me in the eyes of rational minded folks. For those who believe anything they read on the internet, I really don’t care.”

Asked that there can be no smoke without fire, he responds, “These days, smoke comes without fire o. There is the smoke making machine that we use to produce smoke in movies, that machine can make all the smoke in this world without fire!” He laughed.

“But on a more serious note, Do you know I used to read stuff I did in the united States of America long ago on the internet? And at the time these things were written,  I didn’t even have a visa to the USA! I hadn’t even been to the USA then!  Hello? Did somebody say there can be no smoke without fire? The only fire in the story is yes I went to Malaga last year and made two movies. That is all. Every other story is lies upon lies. Some people just want their name mentioned alongside that of Tchidi Chikere to achieve publicity, Hello, I worked to be Tchidi Chikere, folks should work too!  I’m here. I walk freely. I come and go as I like. I keep my hands clean.

If I’m owing somebody 5 million naira being CD making funds as the story was written, let the people bring EFCC and arrest me, why can’t they do that?” (LAUGHS)  “Let me also clear the air once and for all on this Nathaniel Agaga or Engineer Agaga, who is defrauding people on the internet claiming to be my personal assistant  and uses a facebook profile that bears my name, claiming to be me! I don’t know him and anybody who is dumb enough to pay money or deal with just a name you see on the internet is doing so at his or her own risk.  His details are with the right authorities and very soon we will catch him. There is no single public figure that is not being impersonated these days. People should beware.”

Asked what he is currently up to, he told us he is on location in the east filming with Ali Huhu and Ngozi Ezeonu in a new flick titled Palace Pleasu

GHANA TO SELL ELECTRICITY TO NIGERIA-DAILY SUN

Ghana’s ruling government has concluded plans to begin export of electric power to Nigeria and other West African countries by 2015.
The country’s Vice President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, who unfolded the plan in Accra, on Tuesday, said the government has already embarked on extensive expansion of power infrastructure to enable them achieve the project.

Mahama explained that a key motivation for the investment was that Ghana presently has competitive advantage in the area of power supply over other neighbouring countries, including Nigeria, which is still grappling with massive power deficit for its estimated 150 million citizens.

The vice president, who spoke at a summit on Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Compact Two in Accra, said the country intends to consolidate on its existing energy infrastructures by exploring alternative sources of supply, including solar power and biomass resources, to ensure that the target of selling power to other West African countries was achieved by the next four years.

Mahama, who underscored the imperative of stable energy in the economic development of his country said Ghana was partnering the United States Government to realize the dream, stressing that raising the nation`s power generation would in addition create wealth and alleviate poverty among her citizens. It was in the light of that initiative that the Millennium Challenge Account Compact two was organized to seek ways of funding power generation and transmission and uninterrupted power supply.

Under the arrangement, the country intends to increase her current 2000 megawatts of electricity to 5000 megawatts with the hope of selling surpluses to needy countries including Nigeria. Also speaking, Ghana’s deputy minister of Energy, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini explained that the country would require about $1.7billion to meet its quest for universal access to power supply, pointing out the President Arthur Mills government had already received about $966.55million from bilateral and multilateral institutions in that regard.
Alhaji Fuseini said there was a` shortfall of about $729million against which background it considered MCA compact two was considered useful.

IT would be recalled that Ghana has one of the largest dams in the world had in 2009 celebrated her ten years of uninterrupted power supply. Authoritative sources say that the Akosombo Dam built by late President Kwame Nkrumah has the potential to supply the entire West Africa with electricity if fully utilized.

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had shortly after being sworn-in in May reviewed the nation’s power roadmap, raising fears that Nigeria may continue to live with power shortages in the foreseeable future.

BIG BROTHER AMPLIFIED WINNERS EMERGE NEXT SUNDAY

[caption id="attachment_6427" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="Karen Igho"][/caption]

The showdown and dash for the double prize to be won by two Big Brother Amplified contestants is hotting up as the reality TV show gears towards a climax next Sunday. (See the updated story here- Karen Igho and Wendhall are the winners of Big Brother Amplified)

Today is the last eviction, and ardent viewers are anxiously waiting to see who of the seven nominated housemates bites the dust before the finale – as it seems six will fight it out for the two 200000 (R1,36m) first prizes.

Ten contestants are in the house today. The nominated seven, the highest number since the show opened in May, are the house’s cassanova, handsome Lomwe of Malawi, Mzansi’s own cry baby, the erratic and unpredictable Luclay, Ethiopia’s unassuming, shy introvert Hanni, the house’s care-free man-eater Kim from Zambia, the big mouth Kenyan Millicent, the conceited Zimbabwe model Vimbai and her compatriot, and the only white man, Wendall, whose quietness only disappears after he’s had a tipple too many.

Safe and sound going to the finals is the outspoken viewers’ darling Karen of Nigeria, who has since changed her spots, Uganda’s reserved beauty Sharon O and the sophisticated and highly intelligent Nigerian Vina.

I predict that the likeable Lome and Vina will take the double first prize!

Come in Karen, after being the darling of the fans, she spoiled her chance of getting the loot in the final stretch this week.

Karen and Kim have been at each other’s throats since the game began, from calling each other names like poodle, to sl*t, it just doesn’t end with these two!

On Thursday, Karen and Kim had another spat that saw them throwing expletives . Kim then subsequently packed her bags and moved her bed to sleep with her supposed lover – Lomwe.

On Friday night Karen was in her element after a drunken stupor that led to her being dragged to her bed by Vina and Wendall.

Before the semi-naked Karen, went to sleep, wearing only an all-revealing pair of knickers, she threatened to break the karaoke equipment after one of the housemates hit the remote control.

Head of the House Vina jumped, telling Karen off, insisting that she was in charge of the equipment – as the week’s sheriff – and she didn’t like the way Karen wanted to mess the machine up , as the week’s sheriff.

While everyone was enjoying the party, Karen slipped upstairs to have a sobbing moment, claiming that she wants to go home.

Has the game become too much taxing for Karen, the darling of the viewers, to handle?

Out Karen, you’ve messed up in just one week and no moolah for you!

During next Sunday’s finale, the finalists will be pretty surprised to learnt that Amplified meant two winners for the first prize cash.
