LATEST NEWS:INI EDO MOVIE PREMIERES IN LAGOS

A- List Nollywood star, Ini Edo who recently ventured into movie production with I’ll Take My Chances which she jointly produced, is set to premiere her latest work in Lagos. The actress who recently got her appointment with the United Nations renewed as the United Nations youth envoy on environment for another year is putting finishing touch to her preparation.
Anticipation is high and fingers are crossed in the entertainment and fashion capital of Nigeria, Lagos as the movie, I’ll Take My Chances comes to town.
Having enjoyed a very successful premiere in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, the banquet hall of the Meridien Hotel on the 24th September to be precise, the movie is now set to be premiered in Lagos and many celebrities, industry pundits, associates and well wishers are all expected to throng the venue of the premiere in grand style. Following the resounding success and acceptance it enjoyed in Uyo, more is expected when the premiere comes alive in Lagos.
The Lagos premiere of the movie which was jointly produced by the duo of Ini Edo and Emem Isong will take place sometimes in December this year.
I’ll Take My Chances centers on a medley of drama, dance, love and suspense, which is intended for people who are very passionate about dance and movies but not like the type often portrayed in most Bollywood films, but this time, it’s more Nigerian in perspective and philosophy.
The dance-themed movie boasts of an impressive cast that include the ever radiant Ini Edo, one-time Mr. Nigeria, Bryan Okwara, the president of ANTP, Jide Kosoko, Sam Loco Efe of blessed memory, Biola Williams, Lilian Ikpe, the dance sensation, Ashleigh Clark among others.
Directed by Desmond Elliot, a prolific actor, I’ll Take My Chances is a real departure from the frequently seen story lines in the movie industry as the content, style and philosophy behind it distinguishes it from most of the scripts daily churned out by directors and producers alike.
The movie tells the story of I.K, a young theatre arts graduate who majored in dance in the U.S., he hopes to stage a drama but lacks the funds to get through with it, and he also sought the help of his girlfriend, Giselle. However, I.K has to go for his youth service in a village in cross river and there he meets the beautiful Idara( Ini Edo). Despite their obvious differences, the two are drawn together but Idara harbours a secret. She has been selected to be the next High Priestess of Unek, a diety that is worshipped by her people through dance. Something will have to give as she is torn between her love for I.K and the path of destiny chosen by the deity.

The movie is set to be at the cinemas from next year in all the cinemas nationwide.

MERCY JOHNSON FIGHTS PRODUCER OVER BLINDNESS RUMOUR

Star actress Mercy Johnson is not happy with a  producer who in the cause of promoting his movies went to town with the rumour that Mercy is blind. In the last few days the latest news about Mercy Johnson indicated that she was blind.
Mercy is pissed by what she described as baseless information being circulated by a producer who in a bid to sell his movie dabbled into irresponsible publicity stunts. Mercy was blind in the movie not in real life.
www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com  also gathered that Mercy also fingered one of her detractors as the person behind her death rumour.
A statement by the publicist for Mercy Johnson Okojie reads
"As at the time of writing this, blogspheres and entertainment industry is awashed with rumour that star actress, Mercy Johnson suffered blindness and experienced a terrible accident that led to her death.
This rumor has no resemblance or iota of truth. Mercy is on a movie location in Lagos and getting set for her trip to Australia in a matter of days.
After diligent investigation, we discovered the rumour started as a result of a publicity stunt initiated by producer of a movie where Mercy’s character lost an eye. Another part of the rumor was started by detractor whose only goal is pull MJ down by all means.
It is despicable to note that these rumors were strengthened by writers who did not crosscheck before posting on their blogs, platforms or newspapers. We decry this act of insensitivity and irresponsibility especially as it affects family, friends and fans.
We appreciate family, friends and fans that have taken time to call out of concern and love and we wish to let them know that mercy is hale and hearty.
We implore bloggers and writers to kindly cross check reports on mercy with us to avoid using their platforms to promote falsehood and abate inappropriate ‘’PR stunts’’ by those who want to sell their movies or those whose goal is to pull others down at all costs"
 Mercy is alive not dead!

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MTN YOUNG MODEL OF THE YEAR,JENEVIEVE AKEN

Jenevieve Aken is a 22 year old orphan from Nnem Alok Ikom Local Government Area in Cross River State. In 2005 she lost her mother at the age of 16 and her father only years later. Her strong will to make something of her life has been the driving force over the years. She entered for the MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week, MTN Young Model of the Year Award competition geared with only this will to excel, and fortune indeed smiled on her. Jenevieve walked away with the award of the MTN Young Model for 2011, N1 million cash prize, contract with Nigeria’s leading modelling agencies, Beth Africa Modelling Agency and a chance to enter for the Beth Model’s Elite Model Look Nigeria 2012. This 5 feet, 7 inches ebony beauty tells ADENIKE SOTADE how it happened.

Can you please tell us a little about yourself??
My name is Jenevieve Ebele ken. I was born on the 8th of June 1989, in Nnem Alok Ikom local government, Cross River State. I live in Abuja but I’m currently studying photography in Johannesburg, South Africa which I deferred to come back for the Model of the Year competition. I’m from a polygamous home and the last from my mum, but fourth child in the family.

What do you do for a living?
I am a model and a photographer.

How did you hear about the MTN LFDW 2011 show?
I heard about the MTN Fashion and Design Week from a friend of mine, who also happens to be a photographer.

Prior to the MTN LFDW, had you  done any runway modelling, or any modelling at all?
Yes, I had done runway.

How would you describe your experience on this show, starting from your auditioning leading to the point when you were declared the winner of the MTN Young Model of the Year?
My experience at the auditioning was different as I did not know what the judges were looking for. Till this very moment that I am talking to you and after I have been awarded the MTN model of the year, I can’t say precisely what they adjudged us on but I do know that I love the runway and I gave the competition my very all. Thank goodness my best was enough on the day it mattered most.

Have you always wanted to model?
Oh Yes! Like I said earlier, I love the runway. I have always wanted to model; as a matter of fact, my dream is not just to model, but to be a supermodel. That is why winning the MTN Model of the Year is so important to me.It’s a step closer to achieving my dream and it has boosted my confidence.

What does the word fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me means an art of physical expression, an outburst of how you feel about yourself, like a certain way of dressing and hair style.

Do you love clothes?
Yes I love clothes, most especially dresses. (Chuckles)

How would you describe your personal style?
I will describe myself as a determined person, fashionable person, elegant life style, outgoing and energetic person.

Aside modelling what else interests you?
Aside modelling some of my other interests are photography and sound production in movie and television production work.

Would you love to pursue modelling as a full time career?
Yes, I would love to pursue modelling as a full time carrier.

How supportive are your parents to your modelling career and what was there reaction to the news that you won the MTN Model of the Year award?
Well I am an orphan; I lost both of my parents. But I really wished they were alive today to see my happy moment.

Locally and internationally who are your role models?
Locally, there are two people that I really admire and can call my role models. They are, Agbani Darego and Oluchi. Internationally, it’s the ever graceful Tyra Banks, who is an accomplished model, a TV presenter, a successful entrepreneur and a philanthropist.

How would you describe the Nigerian fashion industry as it is today?
I would describe the Nigerian fashion industry as it is today as looking up, growing, evolving and gaining better recognition from within the country as well as abroad.  Industry practitioners are now better treated as professionals; so whether a stylist, make-up artist, runway set designer, fashion designer, model, photographer, we all are getting the courtesy and respect deserving for our roles in growing the industry. If the tempo is sustained, I believe that in no time the fashion industry will be strong enough to attract investments from foreign countries.

What inspires you?
Almighty God is my number one inspiration; watching fashion TV, studying and seeing what other models around the world are doing.

Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
I see myself walking on that platform where I want to be, working with top designers and photographers. I see myself as a Supermodel owning my own modelling agency, reaching out to mentor and nurturing young girls and boys aspiring to be professional models.

A FACE SAVING EFFORT BY KIM KARDASHIAN?

Kim with veteran tv star Kirk Douglas who hosted the event
This is not the best of times for Kim Kardashian. The pretty TV reality show star is under hammer as many bloggers gave her a piece of their mind .
You can tell that they obviously upset about the way and manner Kim walked out of her marriage to Kris Humphris,72 days after it was contracted.
The torrent of negative comments are reactions to photos  taken as Kim Kardian and other stars joined the Mayor of Los Angeles Anthonio Villaraigora to serve thanksgiving meals to the homeless.
Many people believe that the Charity event was another publicity stunt for Kim.Some concluded that the collapse of Kim's wedding gave her so much bad press and she is using the thanksgiving day event to help the homeless and a face saving effort.
The least thing on Kim's wedding was a cake that cost about $200,000. In Africa, that amount can change many lives, buy uniforms for many school children, buy some classrooms and give many less priviledged women smart loans to set up businesses so that they can send their kids to school and also feed.
Wish , wish the marriage did not pack up in the first place!

LATEST NEWS: HITV SAYS GTBANK INVADED IT OFFICE DESPITE A PENDING CASE IN COURT

This is really a bank-customer relationship gone sour.HITV informed gistmaster that the closure of their office in Lagos yesterday is nothing but invasion despite a pending court case.
A statement issued in Lagos today by HiTV reads
"On Monday, November 21 at about noon, heavily armed mobile policemen alongside men in suit invaded in a commando style, simultaneously, all HiTV offices in Lagos purportedly acting on some court order instituted by Guarantee Trust Bank Plc over a relationship/financial dispute between HiTV and the bank.

The invading team brandishing a court order sealed HiTV offices thereby partially paralysing activities and causing disruption in its services which has resulted to the loss of signals in some of its Hi channels locally and to its international partners.

For records purposes, we wish to state here that the invasion on HiTV property by agents of GT Bank was a total breach of the rights of HiTV as there is a pending case in court on the same issue and more but the bank in a clandestine manner went ahead to secure an order from another court which they relied on to invade HiTV premises across Lagos.

The Facts:

·      GTBank is a shareholder of HiTV and has financed a significant part of HiTV’s business activities.

·      GTBank participated in the sale of UEFA Champions League 2011/12 season (rights for which were awarded to HiTV) in a manner that was inconsistent with agreed contractual terms.

·      HiTV consequently filed in court the case regarding the improper sale of the UEFA rights along with other issues concerning its relationship with GTBank.

·      Despite there been an existing case in court, GTBank secured an order from another court and invaded HiTV business premises in different locations in Lagos on Monday, November 21 and caused significant distress and embarrassment to HiTV staff and customers.

As a law abiding organisation, HiTV will handle the issue legally and that is why it is calling on subscribers, agencies, and trade and platform partners to be calm and patient while the issue is being tackled. HiTV thanks all for the continuous patronage of the proudly Nigerian Pay TV.

 HiTV apologises for service disruption

Proudly Nigerian Pay TV Company, HiTV, is currently experiencing disruption in its services which has resulted to the loss of signals in some of its Hi channels locally and to its international partners.

This piece of news was contained in a statement signed by the company’s Public Relations Manager, Justin Akpovi-Esade. The company’s management according to Akpovi-Esade are currently working at resolving the issue.

He thanked its valued subscribers for their continued patronage even as he assured that “everything would be fine very soon. A team of competent personnel are working round the clock to ensure the issue is resolved. HiTV values its numerous subscribers and calls for their usual understanding and patience while the issue is being sorted out,” the statement read.

JONATHAN SACKS EFCC BOSS,FARIDA WAZIRI+LAMORDE APPOINTED ACTING CHAIRMAN

President Goodluck Jonathan woke Nigerians up with a shocker this morning with the sack of Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) boss Mrs. Farida Waziri. According to announcement made by the government through the president's spokesperson, Dr. Reuben Abati, Waziri was relieved of her job and an acting chairman in the person of Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde has been appointed acting chairman of the anti-graft agency.Gistmaster gathered that the sack of Waziri and appointment of Lamorde as EFCC acting Chairman takes immediate effect.
Lamorde's profile in efcc started durning the time of former chairman of the commission, Malam Nuhu Ribadu. He was the director of operations. He was later appointed the acting chairman shortly before the appointment of Mrs. Waziri by the Umaru Yar'Dua's administration in 2008.
Lamorde a police office was tranfered from the EFCC after the appointment of Mrs. Waziri but he was re-appointed director of operations after sometime.

ACCESS BANK GMD AIGBOJE AIG-IMOUKHUEDE SCHEMES FOR CBN TOP JOB?

Spin doctors of Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede the group managing director/ceo of Access Bank are already pushing his ambition as next Governor of Central Bank to limelight. The tenure of the incumbent governor of CBN,Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, will expire next year.
Gistmaster gathered that the Access Bank boss is silently running a campaign that would get him the job through his connection with Nigeria president, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan.
He is considered as one of the closest economy drivers to the president. So he is doing all within reach to ensure that he is considered for the job.
One of his highest selling point is also condered his weakest. According to a source, Aig-Imokhuede and his deputy, Wigwe are jollificating over the aquisition of Intercontinental Bank, yet they have not answered the question of how they managed to acquire a bank  they are indebted to.
Going by recent comments of President Goodluck Jonathan on the achievement of CBN governor, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi , he might have his tenure renewed by another 4 years.
Aig-Imokhuede is an alumnus of one of the prestigeous, Havard University Business School Executive management program, USA.He read law at the University of Benin before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. He is considered one of the finest bankers we have in Nigeria.
Efforts to get those in charge of communications in Access Bank to talk about it prove abortive.

JOBA, CHIDINMA AND EMMANUEL GRACEFULLY BOW OUT OF MTN PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA!

As Wande Coal thrills audience…
Contestants go down memory lane with Classical music…

On Saturday, November 19, 2011, the number of contestants at this
year’s edition of MTN Project Fame West Africa was reduced from 13 to
10 contestants as Joba, Chidinma and Emmanuel were eliminated from the
popular music talent competition.

The three contestants were among the seven contestants with the lowest
votes put up for eviction last week. The other four contestants on
probation were Roy, Racheal, Princess and Ruth.

As usual, after performances by the contestants on probation, the
moment of truth came: the total number of votes from the viewing
public saved Racheal. The judges decided to save Roy thereby extending
his run in the competition. Next up was the Faculty and after
commending the contestants, they decided to save the eccentric Ruth
based on her development in the academy. The contestants who were not
up for eviction then had the unpleasant job of saving only one of
their fellow contestants and after a lot of tension, they decided to
save Princess.

With Racheal, Roy, Ruth and Princess saved, it automatically meant
that Joba, Chidinma and Emmanuel had been eliminated from the show.
Taking it all in good stride, they showed their appreciation in taking
part in the competition and promised to storm the music industry soon
enough.

Wande Coal later thrilled the audience as he closed the show with an
amazing performance from his “Mushin to MoHits” album.

On Sunday, November 20, 2011, the ten contestants remaining in the
academy took us down memory lane with back to back classic cuts. They
opened the show with group performances and they featured the
PlayHouse Voices to back them up. Ethel, Monica, Ruth, Racheal and
Isaac performed “Rivers Of Babylon” by Bonnie M. Yvonne, Velma, Ese,
Roy and Princess also performed “Earth Song” by Micheal Jackson.

Each contestant soon entertained everyone with individual performances
singing Classic songs from music icons like Aretha Franklyn, Barry
White, Abba, Diana Ross among others. The audience, judges and members
of the faculty all had a feel of the rich intense performances.

“I must admit that I am very pleased to be here to experience
tonight’s show. I have heard a lot of very strong and rich voices
tonight and I must commend all of you for pleasing us with your
performances.” Music Producer, Song writer and Singer, Cobhams who was
the guest judge for the night admitted.

“Tonight we are going to be judging you on your notes and how well you
interpreted the characters in the songs you performed. Some of you
lost it along the way with flat notes here and there while some of you
did a very good job delivering your keys and entered your characters
well so our judgement would be based on these key elements tonight.”
Nomoreloss explained to the contestants.

The contestants on probation this week are Ethel, Velma, Ese, Ruth,
Roy and Isaac so they have to do the extra work to impress the
audience and the judges.

To save your favorite contestant from eviction, text the contestants
number to 306 from an MTN line. Each text costs N50 and voting ends on
Friday.
