Do you recall reading about the need for Calcium in our body system on this blog site?

Yes we were all informed and excited about the mineral requirements for good health in growing families and even adults in general.
If you remember, we mentioned some certain facts and let’s state them again…

Calcium is most abundant mineral in the body with over 99% stored in the bones and teeth, and the remaining 1% in the body’s tissues and intercellular fluids.
The skeleton of a young adult male contains about 1.2kg of this body nutrient - calcium
It is also important for nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, blood clotting, lowering blood pressure, the stimulation of hormone secretion and the activation of enzyme reaction.
Typically in children there is more deposition to build bone. In adults deposition roughly equals absorption to maintain bone strength.
In response to the daily need for calcium, the foremost provider of nutritional value for growing families, Promasidor Nigeria Limited has recently re-launched their premium milk brand Loya milk for the benefit all.

[caption id="attachment_2059" align="alignleft" width="480" caption="Ushers @Loyal Milk event"][/caption]

It is joy to the heart that a Nigerian company has taken up that we all get the best of calcium in our diets with the improved and re-fortified Loya milk with 50% more calcium. The repackaged and refortified Loya milk offers consumers more Calcium for building and maintaining better bones, tougher teeth and a healthier heart. To maintain bone strength, the body continually balances absorption and deposition of calcium into new bone.

[caption id="attachment_2060" align="alignleft" width="480" caption="Pupils of Adrao International School singing to the newly re-fortified Loyal Milk a product of Promasidor Nigeria"][/caption]

So really we all, young and old do need calcium hence  when the news broke that the re-packaged LOYA milk being refortified with 50% more Calcium, than before , what a relief that  finally someone cares about us enough to give us exactly what we need, especially in this side of the world where our diet is heavily carbohydrates based.

At the consumer launch held recently in Lagos at the Federal Palace Hotel Victoria Island where celebrities, the crème de la crème alongside representative of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria and Dietician Association of Nigeria witnessed the rebirth of Loya milk in most serene environment.

[caption id="attachment_2062" align="alignleft" width="322" caption="Anne Anozodo and Teju Babyface"][/caption]

The special guest of honours at the launch event were Professor Ignatius Onimawo, National President Nutrition Society of Nigeria and Mrs. Mary Jane Umeh, National secretary of the Dietician Association of Nigeria with key note addresses on the “value of calcium to a growing Nigerian family” .

The Managing Director Promasidor Nig.Limited Mr. Keith Richards said at the event; “We have really done our homework on the refortified Hi-calcium Loya milk, and this we did in order to offer the growing Nigerian family both young and young at heart a product that offers them not only a healthier diet mix but also top shelf quality that meets worlds class standards”

Speaking further, the GM marketing Promasidor Kachi Onubogu asserts “Calcium is an essential part of our everyday lives especially in our growing children and we have introduced the a calcium-Loya® milk to demonstrate that we do care about our consumer welfare and overall health status, so we are really excited about this and how well this product will do in the market based on the nutritional value we are bringing to the growing family in Nigeria”

And according to the National Secretary of the Dietician Association of Nigeria Mrs. Mary Jane Umeh of the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital says “ We all should greatly appreciate Promasidor Nigeria Limited for all their efforts and since calcium is a major component of mineralized tissues that is required for normal growth and skeletal development, optimal calcium intake is important for every member of a growing family to maximize peak adult bone mass and its  maintenance, to minimize the elderly bone loss and prevent a number of common chronic medical disorders in our families in particular and Nigeria at large”

The new Loya milk comes in various pack sizes like the 400g & 900g in Tins and 22g & 400g Sachet all at affordable prices. The new Loya milk Five Star promises are:

[caption id="attachment_2048" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="Weird MC"][/caption]

The bestselling rapper, songwriter, performer and entrepreneur who has
been working on her third studio album for years, premiered two
singles ‘Jehovah (Da Paper Song)’ and ‘Don’t Stop (Se were)’ at
09:07AM on November 9. Both singles feature Switch and Dr Pat
respectively; and were produced by Legendary Beatz.
Weird MC’s label is called 0907 – named after her birth day July 9.
And this is not the first time she’ll be playing with the 9th day in
premiering her songs or videos. This time around, her reps say, the
new singles were premiered globally on 9 radio stations and 9 websites
at 9:07AM on November 9.

‘She’s spent over 18 years in the game, sold over 10 million albums
and won hundreds of awards across the continent. She has inspired
dozens of female acts and stayed relevant despite all odds. She’s
Nigeria’s most daring female hip hop act and we’re happy to deliver
these gift – her new singles – to her loyal fans who have waited for
years for this album’ a statement from her label 0907/FK says.
The new singles are the final set of materials from her pending third
album ‘Broken Silence’. Earlier singles include ‘Riranwo’, ‘Step up’
and ‘Happy Day’ – both already bonafide hits and chart toppers on both
radio and TV. The album is scheduled for a late 2010 release.

Born Adeshola Idowu, Weird MC first gained national recognition in
1997 with her hit single 'Allen Avenue' which won her the award for
the Best Hip Hop act at the first edition of the Awards for Musical
Excellence (Amen awards) in October 2008, after which she went on a
long sabbatical. She made a comeback in 2005 with her monster hit 'Ijo
ya'. Her influences include Miriam Makeba, Femi Kuti, Lauren Hill,
Jimi Hendrix and others.

Her first album 'Simply Weird' was Nigeria's first full-length rap
album, earning her a position as a pioneer of the hip hop industry in
Nigeria.  And when many were expecting her to fall below standard with
her belated sophomore album 'After Da Storm', she took the game to a
whole new level, establishing herself as one of the continent’s most
amazing performers and a multi-faceted entertainer. With the new
achievements came brand statements like the elongated ‘gele’ which
remained her signature for years.

‘We’re back again’ she says. ‘People should get ready for the full
album. Yes we’ve just dropped two fresh bangers, but these are just
samples of what the full album will be like. It’s been so long coming,
I’m excited!’ Weird Mc says.
Weird MC has collaborated on stage and in the studio with the likes of
Femi Kuti, Lagbaja, Yinka Davies, Psquare, Don Jazzy, Tony Allen,

Europe’. Weird MC also has a track (‘What Are You Waiting For?’) on

SHONEKAN, DOZIE OTHERS SET TO BUY STAKE IN UNION BANK

[caption id="attachment_1991" align="alignleft" width="155" caption="Photo:Funke Osibodu, CEO Union Bank Plc"][/caption]

By Folake Alu/Assistant News Editor

Union Bank Nigeria Plc  is up for grabs. Latest news from the Nigerian banking industry indicate that African Capital Alliance is ready to buy into Union Bank Plc. Union Bank is one of the banks that was rescued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) due what it called mismanagement of funds.

The former Chief Executive of the bank,Mr. Batholomew Ebong was amongst those sacked by Sanusi Lamido led CBN.He is currently facing civil and criminal charges leveled against him by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

Gistmaster.com gathered that Africa Capital Alliance is the brain child of board room gurus. It has on it board of Directors, Mr. Pascal Dozie, a rich and experienced board room chief who holds sway as the Chairman of Diamond Bank and MTN Nigeria. He has business interests in oil and gas, property etc.

The Africa Alliance also has a former Head of Interim National Government in Nigeria, Chief Ernest Shonekan on board. Shonekan is also a former Chairman of UAC plc.Okechukwu Ekenamah, the CEO of Africa Capital Alliance is has worked with top equity companies in South Africa, United States and other places.

Union Bank under Mrs. Funke Osibodu has not issued a statement yet on the issue but we gathered that it would come soon if everything scale through.

SARAKI FIGHTS DANIEL OVER GOVERNORS FORUM CHAIRMANSHIP

[caption id="attachment_1985" align="alignleft" width="228" caption="Dr. Bukola Saraki of Kwara State"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_1986" align="alignright" width="256" caption="Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State"][/caption]

By Folake Alu/Gistmaster.com

Dr.Bukola Saraki,a presidential aspirant and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum is very bitter at the moment with Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State. Trouble started when Daniel was reportedly announced as the new Chairman of the powerful forum. The announcement, we gathered was done by Govenor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State.

Feelers show that  Governor Saraki is ready to trade words with Governor Daniel because he viewed his (Saraki) purported removal as nothing but a political machinery set up against him by President Goodluck Jonathan, who is also aspiring to contest next presidential election.

Saraki said today that it is a politics of bitterness and its unwarranted. He noted that for anyone to become the Chairman of Governors Forum, it has to be a consensus issue.Governors must be well represented.

Some Governors such as comrade Adams Oshiomole of Edo State and Governor Shekarau of Kano State have dissociated themselves from the 'declaration' of Daniel as new Chairman of the forum. They have both issued a statement to the effect.

Political observers in Nigeria believe that Daniel, who is the South West co-ordinator of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organization is being positioned as a true 'eye' of President Jonathan in the Governors Forum.
