Gunmen kill Nigerian Businessman in South Africa

 A Nigerian businessman based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr Emmanuel Onyekaozuru, 50, was killed on Sunday by gunmen. The President of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, on Monday told newsmen in Pretoria, South Africa, that Onyekaozuru was shot by two gunmen. Students in LUTH protest over armed robbery attacks

Students studying Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy,Dentistry and other courses at Lagos Univeristy Teaching Hospital (LUTH) protest over incessant armed robbery attacks on their campus. Charles Taylor was today sentenced to 50 years in prison after the war crimes tribunal convicted him for crime against humanity. FRAUD:HOW TWO NIGERIANS OPENED 752 BANK ACCOUNTS IN THE UK

A Nigerian fraudster who hijacked the identities of soldiers and nurses in a $1.3 million benefits plot has been jailed in the UK for six years. Chibuikem Uzoma-Ubani and another Nigerian partner in crime opened 752 bank accounts to perpetrate the fraud. Chibuikem Uzoma-Ubani, 29, persuaded several lovers to help him launder the profits from the swindle that targeted tax credits and Sure Start maternity grants, reports The Daily Mail. Denisa Camacho, 28, of Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire, and Katrina Papiernikova, 27, of Romford, Essex both had relationships with Uzoma-Ubani, after arriving in the UK from Slovakia and were accused of turning a blind eye to his activities. Uzoma-Ubani, of Romford, Essex, married Camacho in 2004, then divorced her and had two children by Papiernikova. LATEST NEWS:COURT SENTENCES AL MUSTAPHA TO DEATH BY HANGING

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha,a former Chief Security Officer to late General Sani Abacha, has been sentenced to death by hanging.He was found guilty of masterminding the death of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola,whose husband , Late Bashorun MKO Abiola won the 12 June 1993 election.  Also  sentenced to death by hanging is Alhaji Lateef Shofolahan, a personal assistant to late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola at the time of the commission of the event. CHRISTMAS DAY BOMBING IN NIGERIA RECORD DEATHS IN CATHOLIC CHURCH

I AM YET TO RECEIVE MY SACK LETTER-FARIDA WAZIRI

 Farida Waziri, the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who was relieved of her job yesterday morning by the Nigerian government said she is yet to receive her sack letter.   In a short interview she granted a national newspaper, The Punch, Mrs. Waziri said she heard the announcement of her removal from office on television like every other person.   She told a correspondent that no one has communicated the new development to her in writing. Reasons for her sack? FEMALE BANKER KILLED BY HUSBAND BURIED TODAY

The remains of Titilayo,the banker who was allegedly killed some months ago by her jobless husband, Akolade Arowolo was buried today at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos. It was one of the fierce case of domestic violence recorded in Nigeria.    Gistmaster   gathered from those around that there was no way the husband would have been allowed to come for the burial. POLICE ARREST KILLERS OF POPULAR EDO MUSICIAN

 The killers of Bayo Ade, the Benin city, Edo State based musician who was murdered some months back have been arrested. According to information, the culprits were arrested after thorough investigation by officers of from the Edo State Police command.   The commisioner of Police in Edo State, Mr. David Omojola who made this known at a press conference yesterday also paraded six other kidnappers and 11 armed robbery suspects.   The police boss said, Bayo Ade's killers include a 68 year old man who is the armorer for the suspected criminals. The musician was one of the most popular musicians in Benin, the edo state capital. He was kidnapped on his way to perform at the birthday of Esama of Benin, High Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.He was later found dead.
