DIMEJI BANKOLE TURNED HIP HOP ARTISTE?

[caption id="attachment_4492" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Speaker, Dimeji Bankole and his look alike, Adeola Adediran aka Delly B Sabio"][/caption]

By Niyi Tabiti

Its amazing how much some people tend to look alike. For starters, have you  ever seen a lady that looks so much like your girlfriend, you grabbed her from behind and in a bid to play with her by kissing her, you suddenly realize she was just a look alike of your woman! Well, some guys who have been in this kind of embarrassing situations get 'hot'...I mean hot slaps for such case of mistaken identity.

Today, that was exactly what would have happened. was working on website for someone when i noticed this photo of this emerging hip hop star, Adeola Adediran popularly known as Delly B Sabio. The guy look so much like  Speaker of Nigeria House of Representatives (lower house of parliament). If one didn't look clearly, it would seem as if the speaker who has just lost his bid to return to the House has suddenly turned hip hop artiste like Dbanj and the rest.

Meanwhile, welcome your boy, Delly B on board the music train. The 'Shakara' exponent has a masters degree in Human Resources Development from the Indiana State University, USA. He is creative, energetic and ready to go all the way in his music career.

NIGERIA ENTERTAINMENT TODAY TO HOLD MEMORIAL LECTURE FOR DAGRIN IN LAGOS

By Gistmaster.com

Ayeni Adekunle is not one to forget things easily. The ebullient publisher of Nigeria Entertainment News Today and his team have shown that if others can forget, they can never forget the impact of Dagrin, the rapper and entertainment who died last year in fatal auto accident in Mushin.

As part of ways to immortalize Dagrin, Ayeni and members of his team have announced the first memorial lecture in honour of the departed rap star. Gistmaster.com gathered that the organizers are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to have a successful lecture.

A statement signed by the paper’s Publisher Ayeni Adekunle, says the
reason for the memorial Lecture, is ‘obvious to us all’.
‘Dagrin died in very tragic circumstances. A young man who was full of
life; who was very hardworking and very promising had his life cut
short in such horrible manner. Could his death, just like that of CD
John, Chidinma Mbalaso and many others have been prevented?’ Ayeni
asks.
The Memorial Lecture, scheduled to hold at Protea Hotels, in Ikeja
GRA, at a yet-to-be-announced date, will feature speakers from all
relevant industries: security and safety; media, health and medicine,
governance, entertainment, communication, management and others.
‘We’re working on getting relevant people from the FRSC, Police Force,
Nigerian Medical Association, as other bodies; including
representatives from the musician’s union as well as the labels, to
come educate us all on what we need to know on pertinent health,
safety, living, investment and other issues, using the tragic case of
Dagrin as case study.
‘It is our desire that our artistes and their minders will find
important lessons from this lecture; as well as all those who work
within the entertainment industry. How many of us still sit behind our
steering and drive even when we’ve been drinking? How many have all
the relevant insurance? What can we do about the hospital policy that
makes it impossible for you to get even emergency treatment unless you
pay a deposit? Who benefits when you’re dead? What’s the role of the
FRSC, state governments, Federal Government, Nigeria Police, PMAN,
Record labels, and other institutions in all of these?’
Speakers and facilitators for the inaugural Dagrin Memorial Lecture
will be announced in a few weeks.

4 DAYS TO ELECTION:WHAT PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN TOLD Y!NAIJA EDITORS, CHUDE JIDEONWO AND AZIZA UKO

[caption id="attachment_4474" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="The Y! Magazine Team with the President"][/caption]

By Niyi Tabiti

The latest Y!naija edition is out and it is tagged 'election issue'. The Editors of the magazine interviewed Nigeria president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikwe Jonathan. The interview was conducted by Chude Jideonwo, a director/editor of Y! naija magazine and a collegue, Aziza Uko. Questions and answers were asked in various areas. If you get a copy of the magazine you can get full details of what transpired.

Meanwhile here are some of the questions and answer from the interview with President  Goodluck Jonathan

Power – you took it as a priority when you came into office – but, as
with successive governments, one year down the line in terms of
practical change in everyday lives, not much seems to have changed.
Why not?

I cannot agree with you that not much have changed. Before Nigeria
started investing in the IPPs our production was just about 1000MW now
we have attained 4000 MW even though by the investments we have made
we should have attained 10,000MW if not for the constitutional
challenges that we faced in investing money from all ties of
government into the IPPs. But we are back on track and will make quick
progress.

Also, we have seen the usual band of millionaires who seem to support
every government of the day making headlines as supporters of your
campaign. Many believe that these people are not inspired by your
message, rather their own selfish interest to remain in favour of your
government. Can you assure us of independence from these money-bags if
elected?

I run an independent government and at all times our decision-making
process has placed national interest over special interests. This is
how we have managed to solve problems like perennial fuel scarcity.

Many Nigerians have also come out to strongly identify the PDP’s big
umbrella with its many narrow interests, as the problem with the
country. Some like Prof Wole Soyinka, have said the PDP is wired
against Nigeria’s good, what would you say to that?

Nigeria is a country with many challenges and I can appreciate our
collective impatience to make progress. The problems we have cannot be
belittled to the point of seeing them as problems of PDP or problems
caused by the PDP. The problems we have are problems that the PDP is
not solving fast enough. I concede.

More of these hard questions on the lips of every Nigerians and frank
answers are in the latest issue of Y!

“We are proud of this achievement because it is the first time that a
serving President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would grant a
lifestyle magazine an interview,” said Ms. Uko, who assumed the
position of Y!’s Editor-at-Large in March. “And it is the first time
that Mr. President would grant a face-to-face sit-down with any media
outfit this campaign season. We are obviously very proud of this scoop
– hence our special double-cover issue.”

It’s a double cover – and the second cover has MI, Banky W, Omoni
Oboli, Sound Sultan, Ruggedman and Ice Prince share their thoughts on
these elections and the future, plus an exclusive RSVP shoot with Obi
Somto.

Y! also chronicles the historic youth participation and organization
in these elections. Nmachi Jidenma reports on how young people are
organising in Working for Change, James Sambo scores on youth
volunteering for various campaigns in Team Spirit, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu
shares his experience hosting Nigeria’s first ever youth-focused
presidential debate, Ifreke Inyang takes a crucial look at the impact
of Twitter and Facebook in these elections in Online vs Offline,
there’s an interview with Nigeria’s youngest campaign manager Ohimai
Amazie, Cheta Nwanze writes Don’t forget the Governors and for those
Spoilt for Choice, four supporters tell what’s special about their
Muhammadu Buhari, Nuhu Ribadu, Goodluck Jonathan and Ibrahim Shekarau.

In a style shoot, Y! captures the young (and the old) in everyday
situations who say one thing – it’s cool to vote! And, in addition to
this bumper package, Y! debuts Y! XTRA – a pictures, parties, fashion,
and style pullout that comes free!

“Call it recommended reading for the 2011 elections - and after!” said
its Managing Editor, Adebola Williams. “We call this a collector’s
item – and we know for certain that this historic RSVP edition is
guaranteed to blow you away.”

The magazine is available from Tuesday, April 11 nationwide. In Lagos, it is
available at the Silverbird Stores, The Palms and Terra Kulture in
Victoria Island as well as Osata Supermarket in Ikeja and all
airports. In Abuja, it is available at the Silverbird stores and with
vendors. In Port Harcourt, it is available with vendors at Emele, NTA,
at the Airport and Roundabout. Customers flying on Dana Air also get
copies of the magazine in flight.

TAOFICK OKOYA PLANS BIG WITH CHILDREN's DAY FIESTA

The ‘Children’s Fiesta’ is a child empowerment program designed to celebrate the African child’s positive attributes through fun filled and enlightening activities.

This year’s edition will be held in a prestigious venue in Victoria Island. The inaugural event is themed ‘’Taking Tomorrow Today’’ and is specifically designed to inspire kids as well as enhance their career development skills for future.

To the vast majority of people, toys are mere play item or pacifier for children a lot of thought does not really go into which toys best serve the purpose as a great tool towards a child's development. A lot of is dumped in the mind of children subliminally both positive and negative which can be later detected in their character at a much later stage (especially in their teenage years). We need to see toys for what they really are…..A fun developmental tool.

Generations over the years having been passing on to kids toys in different shapes and sizes not fully realizing the psychological impact it has on them. In this age and time our thoughts, decisions and actions are influenced externally especially in young children.

There is a need for role models they can easily identify with in their likeness that can sharpen their moral values and bring them closer to their culture. Hence, Queens of Africa project; a social-cultural and educative innovation, with positive life changing initiative, set up to empower, promote and support Nigerian/African girl child.

The main aim of Queens Of Africa is present to the African/Nigerian girl child household dolls with African concept and origin with the view to position it as the world’s number one symbol of pride and entertainment. In addition, empower by adding value to the African/Nigeria child especially the girl child to be confident and ethically matured to become the ideal and perfect role model.

And what better way do we have than to usher in this project with the forthcoming children’s day! A day where we take time off our busy schedules to have fun with our kids and pay them the true attention they need. So ‘Children’s Day Fiesta 2011’ has been put together with a double goal of creating a platform for introducing ‘Queens of Africa’ as well as mark an event in grand style.

The event will see parents and their children participate in fun-filled activities and win ‘Queens of Africa ‘dolls. A onetime event, this will inspire and more so set the ball rolling for a clearer perception of African Dolls and similar art.

Developed by entrepreneur and philanthropist Toafick Okoya, the program has reached tens of thousands of children across Africa contributing significantly to education programs, particularly in Nigeria. The website www.queensofafrica.com has lots of information about the Queens and the wider work the program is involved in.

TEBAZILE + ACNE

Acne's Fall 2011 RTW Collection was true to it's androgynous approach with chunky, yet functional shapes. Every year there is something new and different in the approach to fashion. Do I mix this red purse with those red heels to finish this look? Or, would it be better if I wore this striped skirt with that floral top? We have gone from matchy matchy to mix and match, to don't even match, just mix, then all the way back around, and tweaked somewhere in the middle. Confusing? I suppose that is the beauty of fashion. It's not meant to be taken so seriously. It's a grand way to express ourselves and should always be fun!

Monochromatic looks have taken to the runway, and Acne did a fantastic job in creating such looks that are still wearable by switching up textures and throwing on non-matchy shoes. What really striked my fancy is, although Acne's color palette this season was so different from other colors I have seen on other runways, full of dusty pinks, mustards, burgundies and lime olives, there are Tebazile Pieces in very similar, if not the same color as nearly all the pieces in his collection!

Here, Tebazile paired Acne's looks with the Tebazile Pieces that mirror in hue.

Colors are such a definite way to express feeling and when textures and silhouettes are included... well, I'll leave that part for you to answer.

This COBALT BLUE is electrifying. Acne did wonders by topping this entire ensemble off with silver strappy shoes with a wooden platform.  Tebazile's Teardrop Cobalt Blue Stitch Earrings are an unbelievable mate to this look.   They definitely add even more funk to this fun look!

It's such a BEAUTIFUL hue.  The two different shades of dusty pink in this ensemble is so girly even in androgynous silhouettes.  The PERFECT ring that blends in, but stands out is this Tebazile Dusty Pink Stone ring.  This ring is GORGEOUS, and immediately when I saw this ensemble, this ring came to mind.  LOVE!

The loose black sweater is a PERFECT match for Tebazile's Sanddollar Bib Necklace.  It's simple silhouette and color is a perfect canvas for the intricacy of the necklace.  The gold, copper, silver and oxidized metal is a mirror of the color block pants -- the contrast of the circles and squares magnifies the difference in textures and patterns.

Who doesn't love a good deep tan mustard?  Even describing the color is complex! This look all together is very very lovely.  The billowy turtleneck, paired with the leather jacket inspired skirt, and brown oxfords, Uh-Mazing!  Now let's add some funk by adding Tebazile's Swirl Circle Earrings with pearls that match up PERFECTLY.  These really throw in the swirl to the look.

With the vibrant olive hue Acne's dare to be different, here approach is very similar to Tebazile's arrangment of colors in the Chunky Necklace below.  The colors on the necklace and the hue of the jacket is a great way to achieve BOLD and DIFFERENT.

Turn up your approach with any of these Tebazile pieces by visiting our website at www.tebazile.com or our store in Accra, Ghana. For any other inquiries, please feel free to email us at info@tebazile.com

On his marriage to Ibidun-

She is beautiful inside and outside, self-motivated, industrious, creative, considerate, practical, teachable, down to earth and realistic. she is also very respectful and carries herself with well.
