THE MOVIE

The story lines of Bent Arrows weave together to explore many themes such as sexual abuse, undue parental control, betrayal, revenge etc. The movie tells the story of three innocent young girls and how their innocence became battered in the hands of men, turning them into broken-hearted and emotionally shattered girls looking for revenge.

Idara (Sylvia Oluchy), a young girl sent to live with her maternal uncle in Abuja, is brutally raped. When she gets pregnant, she is forced to sleep with a doctor as payment for an abortion. Repeatedly abused by men, she becomes hardened and proceeds to use her sexuality to get the finer things of life. Lola (Omoni Oboli) after almost being smothered by her parents (Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva) and being cheated on by her fiancée, Seyi (David Nnaji) decides to become a bad girl. A teenage Ngozi (Stella Damasus) goes into prostitution as a means of fending for her sick mother and younger sisters. Bitter and vengeful, Ngozi is on a mission to revenge the wrong done to her mother several years earlier.

Speaking on the movie premiere, Isang Ubong-Awah said 'when we had the premiere of 'Bent Arrows' in Abuja we were awed at the rate of the success and the amount of accolades people showered on the movie. This was what gave us the confidence to once again premiere the movie in Lagos before its arrival at the cinema.

Directed by Lancelot Imaseun, 'Bent Arrows' has its own independent sound track produced by Cobhams Asuquo and features notable names like Styl Plus of Olufunmi fame, the Rooftop MC's(Lagimo), Nikki Laoye and Stella Damasus.

Bent Arrows will be in cinemas across the federation from April 15th, 2011.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A STYLE DIVA - AZUKA OGUJIUBA

We at MORSI wish AZUKA OGUJIUBA of Thisday a happy 40th birthday.

ENE LAWANI, NIKE OSHINOWO'S RIFT DEEPENS-SHUNS EACH OTHER AT FUNCTIONS

[caption id="attachment_4523" align="alignleft" width="275" caption="Nike crowing the new queen at the Miss Nigeria contest "][/caption]

By Gistmaster.com

Contrary to speculations that former Miss Nigeria Ene Lawani and style icon, Nike Oshinowo are very close, authoritative sources disclosed that they are so bitter at each other that it would take special prayers to settle the dispute.

Sources disclosed to gistmaster.com that the two former beauty queens see each as sworn enemies. No one could really say why Nike does not  like  the far younger, Ene Lawani but everything became so obvious when the Miss Nigeria contest took place Last year.

[caption id="attachment_4524" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="Ene maya Lawani"][/caption]

According to what gistmaster.com gathered, Ene as the reigning Miss Nigeria at that time was supposed to crown the beauty queen but because of the rift between them, Nike chose to use Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan, wife of Nigeria President. Worst still, sources hinted that Nike did not provide air ticket to Ene to come to Abuja or anyone that would have followed her, instead she was asked to buy her ticket. Ene decided not to even attend the event.

[caption id="attachment_4525" align="alignleft" width="321" caption="Ene Lawani and a former MBGN, Anita Uwagbale"][/caption]

The whole situation turned embarrassing at the Miss Nigeria contest in Abuja as the First Lady of Nigeria, who Nike Penciled down to crown the queen didn't show up at the end of the day.

Another source who spoke with gistmaster on the phone however disagreed that Nike did not like Ene at all. "Aunty Nike really tried for the girl by taking her out and making sure that she was relevant durning her reign but she was not patient enough" the source said.

The story also took a different turn as someone close to Ene disclosed that Ene is a much younger person to Nike Oshinowo- Soleye, so if she has done anything wrong she should have told her and make her understand but instead, she keep malice with the young girl.

"Take for instance, she was gossiping about Ene with one Jennifer at the after party she organized for Dami the new Miss Nigeria and the news came to her. It is sad" disclosed one of the source.

[caption id="attachment_4528" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Nike Oshinowo"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_4529" align="alignleft" width="375" caption="Nike"][/caption]

Now, what we hear is that Nike Oshinowo and her once upon a time younger friend, Ene are no longer on talking terms. At the special reception Ita Giwa organized for wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan, they avoided each other like a plague. They never greeted or even said a word to each other.

The same thing happened last month at a function inside Civic Centre located right in the heart of Ozumba Mbadiwe in Victoria Island.

It would be recalled that shortly after Ene became Miss Nigeria, Nike Oshinowo was employed/appointed by Daily Times Nigeria Plc to be in charge of their lifestyle business especially handling the organization of Miss Nigeria beauty Pageant. She goes out in company of Nike Oshinowo until sometime when they were no longer seen together. Ene also lived with Nike Oshinowo at a time at her Victoria Island home in Lagos. Yet friends claim they were never close, it was only a working relationship. She insisted that Ene should live with her and she agreed.

Nike is married to Dr. Tunde Soleye,a socialite and physician. Recently honoured with the style icon award at Arise Africa Fashion Week 2011, Nike loves  Louis Vuitton collections.

The Ghetto Dreamz premiere will begin by 4pm with a red carpet event that will parade a lot of Nollywood stars and dignitaries, while the movie proper will start showing by 6pm. Directed by Daniel Adenimokan 'Ghetto Dreamz' tells the story of the late rap artiste DAGRIN. The film chronicles the growing years of Dagrin, his struggles, his rise to fame and his death. Ghetto Dreamz features Trybson the Stingomania’s hip hop sensation as Dagrin and other nollywood stars like Doris Simeon, Rachel Oniga, Pa Kasumu, Kenny Saint brown, Jaywon and a fast rising Oyindamola Odesola and others.

Meanwhile, prior to the premiere of ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ on Wednesday April 20th, a mini concert will be held in honour of Dagrin at the Atrium, Cinema floor of the Silverbird Galleria. This concert is a taste of what will happen at the Dagrin memorial Concert to be held at the National Stadium (Gymnasium Hall) on April 30th. HOLLYWOOD PREMIERE OF PASCAL ATUMA FILM 'OKOTO THE MESSANGER'

Award winning producer of Okoto the Messager, Pascal Atuma has announced the forthcoming premiere of the movie in hollywood. Atuma is a Pan African Film Festival award winner and UCLA African film honoree

Okoto the messager is starring Pascal Atuma, Aloma Wright of the hit television series "Scrubs", J.J. Bunny, Jennifer Oguzie, Nkiru Okonkwo, Sammi Rotibi, Darrius L. Dudley, Onuoha Iyke,Serge Murphy Ukah, Oscar Atuma, Stanley Atuma,Bill Lee Brown,Rhonda Morman, Iyke Onwuegbuzia, Dee Dabira, Christine Lebbie and Vida Darko.

According to a statement sent to gistmaster.com , Okoto the Messenger tells the story of Okoto Igwe (Pascal Atuma) and his girlfriend Angelina(JJ Bunny),both whom were born and raised in Africa, but live in America and are entrenched within the   principle "To not forget their roots" thereby operating within the African community in America. Boyfriend and girlfriend, they are a proverbial match made in heaven. They both love to have fun, that is at the expense of "telling it as it is" to their fellow Africans.

Okoto travels to Africa observing the living conditions of his close relatives, as compared to the  Africans living and enjoying America as if it is their country, forgetting their loved ones at home. Okoto  confronts them all, face to face; CNN style  with Angelina in tow...Code named: Operation get your shit together or we will tell it as it is.

Ironically, while Okoto is busy  playing moral police and telling others about their wrong doings, he forgets that he is committing the highest abomination in African culture, living with his girlfriend Angelina out of wedlock; not because Angelina doesn't want to get married, but because Okoto is not ready. Drama meets comedy at a crossroad in this film.

Okoto the Messenger is a production of African Entertainment Group in association with Pascal Atuma Productions.

Don't wait! The Hollywood Premiere of Okoto the Messenger will be a sold-out red carpet event, featuring your favorite stars and LA's premier African DJs.

DIMEJI BANKOLE TURNED HIP HOP ARTISTE?

[caption id="attachment_4492" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Speaker, Dimeji Bankole and his look alike, Adeola Adediran aka Delly B Sabio"][/caption]

By Niyi Tabiti

Its amazing how much some people tend to look alike. For starters, have you  ever seen a lady that looks so much like your girlfriend, you grabbed her from behind and in a bid to play with her by kissing her, you suddenly realize she was just a look alike of your woman! Well, some guys who have been in this kind of embarrassing situations get 'hot'...I mean hot slaps for such case of mistaken identity.

Today, that was exactly what would have happened. was working on website for someone when i noticed this photo of this emerging hip hop star, Adeola Adediran popularly known as Delly B Sabio. The guy look so much like  Speaker of Nigeria House of Representatives (lower house of parliament). If one didn't look clearly, it would seem as if the speaker who has just lost his bid to return to the House has suddenly turned hip hop artiste like Dbanj and the rest.

Meanwhile, welcome your boy, Delly B on board the music train. The 'Shakara' exponent has a masters degree in Human Resources Development from the Indiana State University, USA. He is creative, energetic and ready to go all the way in his music career.

NIGERIA ENTERTAINMENT TODAY TO HOLD MEMORIAL LECTURE FOR DAGRIN IN LAGOS

By Gistmaster.com

Ayeni Adekunle is not one to forget things easily. The ebullient publisher of Nigeria Entertainment News Today and his team have shown that if others can forget, they can never forget the impact of Dagrin, the rapper and entertainment who died last year in fatal auto accident in Mushin.

As part of ways to immortalize Dagrin, Ayeni and members of his team have announced the first memorial lecture in honour of the departed rap star. Gistmaster.com gathered that the organizers are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to have a successful lecture.

A statement signed by the paper’s Publisher Ayeni Adekunle, says the
reason for the memorial Lecture, is ‘obvious to us all’.
‘Dagrin died in very tragic circumstances. A young man who was full of
life; who was very hardworking and very promising had his life cut
short in such horrible manner. Could his death, just like that of CD
John, Chidinma Mbalaso and many others have been prevented?’ Ayeni
asks.
The Memorial Lecture, scheduled to hold at Protea Hotels, in Ikeja
GRA, at a yet-to-be-announced date, will feature speakers from all
relevant industries: security and safety; media, health and medicine,
governance, entertainment, communication, management and others.
‘We’re working on getting relevant people from the FRSC, Police Force,
Nigerian Medical Association, as other bodies; including
representatives from the musician’s union as well as the labels, to
come educate us all on what we need to know on pertinent health,
safety, living, investment and other issues, using the tragic case of
Dagrin as case study.
‘It is our desire that our artistes and their minders will find
important lessons from this lecture; as well as all those who work
within the entertainment industry. How many of us still sit behind our
steering and drive even when we’ve been drinking? How many have all
the relevant insurance? What can we do about the hospital policy that
makes it impossible for you to get even emergency treatment unless you
pay a deposit? Who benefits when you’re dead? What’s the role of the
FRSC, state governments, Federal Government, Nigeria Police, PMAN,
Record labels, and other institutions in all of these?’
Speakers and facilitators for the inaugural Dagrin Memorial Lecture
will be announced in a few weeks.

4 DAYS TO ELECTION:WHAT PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN TOLD Y!NAIJA EDITORS, CHUDE JIDEONWO AND AZIZA UKO

[caption id="attachment_4474" align="aligncenter" width="480" caption="The Y! Magazine Team with the President"][/caption]

By Niyi Tabiti

The latest Y!naija edition is out and it is tagged 'election issue'. The Editors of the magazine interviewed Nigeria president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikwe Jonathan. The interview was conducted by Chude Jideonwo, a director/editor of Y! naija magazine and a collegue, Aziza Uko. Questions and answers were asked in various areas. If you get a copy of the magazine you can get full details of what transpired.

Meanwhile here are some of the questions and answer from the interview with President  Goodluck Jonathan

Power – you took it as a priority when you came into office – but, as
with successive governments, one year down the line in terms of
practical change in everyday lives, not much seems to have changed.
Why not?

I cannot agree with you that not much have changed. Before Nigeria
started investing in the IPPs our production was just about 1000MW now
we have attained 4000 MW even though by the investments we have made
we should have attained 10,000MW if not for the constitutional
challenges that we faced in investing money from all ties of
government into the IPPs. But we are back on track and will make quick
progress.

Also, we have seen the usual band of millionaires who seem to support
every government of the day making headlines as supporters of your
campaign. Many believe that these people are not inspired by your
message, rather their own selfish interest to remain in favour of your
government. Can you assure us of independence from these money-bags if
elected?

I run an independent government and at all times our decision-making
process has placed national interest over special interests. This is
how we have managed to solve problems like perennial fuel scarcity.

Many Nigerians have also come out to strongly identify the PDP’s big
umbrella with its many narrow interests, as the problem with the
country. Some like Prof Wole Soyinka, have said the PDP is wired
against Nigeria’s good, what would you say to that?

Nigeria is a country with many challenges and I can appreciate our
collective impatience to make progress. The problems we have cannot be
belittled to the point of seeing them as problems of PDP or problems
caused by the PDP. The problems we have are problems that the PDP is
not solving fast enough. I concede.

More of these hard questions on the lips of every Nigerians and frank
answers are in the latest issue of Y!

“We are proud of this achievement because it is the first time that a
serving President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would grant a
lifestyle magazine an interview,” said Ms. Uko, who assumed the
position of Y!’s Editor-at-Large in March. “And it is the first time
that Mr. President would grant a face-to-face sit-down with any media
outfit this campaign season. We are obviously very proud of this scoop
– hence our special double-cover issue.”

It’s a double cover – and the second cover has MI, Banky W, Omoni
Oboli, Sound Sultan, Ruggedman and Ice Prince share their thoughts on
these elections and the future, plus an exclusive RSVP shoot with Obi
Somto.

Y! also chronicles the historic youth participation and organization
in these elections. Nmachi Jidenma reports on how young people are
organising in Working for Change, James Sambo scores on youth
volunteering for various campaigns in Team Spirit, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu
shares his experience hosting Nigeria’s first ever youth-focused
presidential debate, Ifreke Inyang takes a crucial look at the impact
of Twitter and Facebook in these elections in Online vs Offline,
there’s an interview with Nigeria’s youngest campaign manager Ohimai
Amazie, Cheta Nwanze writes Don’t forget the Governors and for those
Spoilt for Choice, four supporters tell what’s special about their
Muhammadu Buhari, Nuhu Ribadu, Goodluck Jonathan and Ibrahim Shekarau.

In a style shoot, Y! captures the young (and the old) in everyday
situations who say one thing – it’s cool to vote! And, in addition to
this bumper package, Y! debuts Y! XTRA – a pictures, parties, fashion,
and style pullout that comes free!

“Call it recommended reading for the 2011 elections - and after!” said
its Managing Editor, Adebola Williams. “We call this a collector’s
item – and we know for certain that this historic RSVP edition is
guaranteed to blow you away.”

The magazine is available from Tuesday, April 11 nationwide. In Lagos, it is
available at the Silverbird Stores, The Palms and Terra Kulture in
Victoria Island as well as Osata Supermarket in Ikeja and all
airports. In Abuja, it is available at the Silverbird stores and with
vendors. In Port Harcourt, it is available with vendors at Emele, NTA,
at the Airport and Roundabout. Customers flying on Dana Air also get
copies of the magazine in flight.
