SOUND SULTAN's WIFE DELIVERS BABY BOY TODAY

Gifted artist, Olanrewaju Fasasi aka Sound Sultan and his wife Farida welcomed their second child – a bouncing baby boy this (Sunday) morning. The baby was born in a Festac Town located hospital at exactly 11:45am (an hour after his wife went into labour). The artist confirms that both mother and child are doing great.
The bundle of joy that will be named in seven days arrives a year and eight months after the couple’s first child, named Zara. According to Sultan, “Zara is gradually getting a grip of what just happened”. Further commenting, a very excited Sultan says “God is great. The birth of my son is a sign of great blessings to come”.

Sound Sultan is one talented artist who has spent well over a decade in Nigeria’s music industry and still counting. His first single “Jagbajantis” led to his debut album ‘KPSHHEW’ (hiss or sound made by a frustrated person) released in 1999. This song and many others endeared him to fans and music pundits across Nigeria.  Ever since, the dark and tall gentleman has dished 5 great albums; the recent being ‘Back To The Future’ (January 20, 2011) with hit songs like “2010” ft. M.I, “Very Good Bad Guy” ft. Banky W and “Orobo” ft. Excel (and recently, Flavour).

NIGERIA ACTRESS YEMISI AKANDE DIES IN UK

Nigeria-UK actress, Yemisi Akande popularly known as Yemisi Eleto is dead. gistmaster.com gathered that the beautiful actress who is also niece to another prominent actor, Segun Remi (popularly known as Chief Karan)  died on Saturday 25 June 2011 in the UK. She was aged 39.
Yemisi,whose first appearance was in a Yoruba movie ' Omo Mummy' is the CEO of Yemak films with office on Camberwell road. She left Nigeria for the US about 18 years ago but relocated to Britain in 2006.

In 2008, Yemisi released her popular movie 'Eleto' (Wedding Planner). She has worked with several known names in Yoruba movie industry in the past.
As Nigerians in the UK mourn the actress, prayers also pour for the two kids she left behind. The eldest is barely 8 years old.

According to the profile of the new beauty queen, she is an undergraduate of University of Lagos and she is from the eastern part of Nigeria. The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2011 contest ended few minutes ago as Sylvia Nduka was announced winner of the crown.

Sylvia represented Taraba State at the beauty Peagent. Sophie Gemel,Miss Bayelsa won the first runner up position.

Miss Enugu, Lagos and Gombe won the 2nd, third and fourth runner up positions respectively.

The event was held at the New Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the traditional home of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Beauty contest.

 

The contestants were judged based on their look, their carriage, their lifestyle in camp, votes from the public and judgment of the panel of judges. Their swim suit and evening gown segment brought a lot of people to their edge of their seats as they hailed contestants of their choice ceaselessly.

After the last outing of the 34 contestants in evening gowns, various awards and prizes were announced.

Miss Photogenic went to Miss Ondo
Miss Amity- the most ambiable and friendly contestant (voted by the contestants)-Miss Ebonyi
Best Traditional custume- Miss Taraba
MGBN Model-Miss Kogi
Face of select pro- Miss Abia
Miss Adamawa won Miss Lacasera
Top 15 contestants were also announced shortly after.

The lucky ones who made it in this category are Miss Kano, Katsina,Lagos,Delta,Ondo, Ebonyi,Enugu,Bayelsa,Osun,Ogun, Taraba,Miss Kogi,Anambra and Miss Niger,Gombe. The audience and the MBGN contestants took a deep breathe as Mitchel Dede and her co- presenter went on to announce the top 5.

Luckily, Miss Taraba,Miss Lagos, Gombe,Enugu,Miss Bayelsa made it to the final list. Miss Taraba was later announced as the winner. She won N3 million Naira cash prize amongst other fringe benefits.

The judges at this year's edition are include Susan Peters a stylish Nollywood actress, Bankole Animashaun, a Director with Classic Beverage makers of Lacasera,George Uboh, a top executive with a security company,Caline Chauogury of  the billionaire Chauogury and Chauogury family. She holds a top position in Eko Hotel(where the family huge business  interest),Prince Tonye Princewill, a business man-river drill Group,Femi Solebo,Rita Arati and Nike Adegoke, Regional manager, Lufthansa German Airlines and Guy Murray Bruce representing the Silverbird group.


BETWEEN SILVERBIRD AND STYLE EDITORS
This 2011  Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) was largely boycotted by style editors from major newspapers and magazines, due to what they termed 'attitude' problem of the organizers.
Most style writers who spoke to Gistmaster.com blamed the organizers for non availability of invitation cards. Most of them said they were not invited.
A female reporter with an international media organization said " We have tried in our little way in promoting the contest in the past. Many thanks to Amadi Ogbonaiya of Vanguard who made sure that press tags were readily available. But now, sorry, Silverbird did not even want to make the style people attend so as to block their loopholes"

When Gistmaster.com spoke with Gbenga Adeyinka the first around 11.16 a.m today on phone , he said that he has also heard the same rumour but he is grateful to GOD that he is very much alive. He also thanked all those who has been calling and wishing him long live.

Married to Biola, a lawyer and mother of his three children,  Gbenga Adeyinka started studied English at the University of Lagos. He later worked in the corporate affairs department of a company before kicking off his career in the entertainment world.

DEJI, MKO ABIOLA'S SON REMANDED IN EFCC CUSTODY OVER FAILED BUSINESS DEAL

Deji Abiola, one of the sons of late businessman and Politician, Bashorun Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO) has been charged before an Ikeja High court for allegedly obtaining money from a businessman without fulfilling the agreement contained in the transaction.

The charge against Abiola reads :
“Deji Abiola on or about 21st day of May 2008 at Lagos within Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud knowingly and fraudulently converted the sum of N35,550,000 ( thirty five million five hundred and fifty thousand naira ) property of Hamza Babatunde Jose of Irede Property and Investment Company Limited”.

The alleged offence is punishable under section 390(8) (b) and (9) of the Criminal Code Law Cap c17 Vol.2 laws of Lagos State 2003 .

Gistmaster.com gathered that Deji, who is younger brother to  Kola Abiola, allegedly collected about 35.5 million Naira from Hamza Babajide Jose with the promise that he would supply him printing machines in 2008. The machines were supposed to be imported from Switzerland.

After what he considered the long wait for machines without seeing anything in place, Jose decided to report Deji Abiola to Nigeria's anti-graft agency, EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission).

When the case came up for hearing today,Deji could not take his plea of whether guilty or not guilty as his lawyer, A B Kasunmu (SAN) ask for time to look into the file. Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo ordered that Deji should be remanded in EFCC custody. The case been adjourned till 30 June 2011.

It would be recalled that Deji was also arrested in 2009 by detectives from the Special Fraud Unit, Milverton Road, Ikoyi, based on the allegation that he defrauded Guaranty Trust Bank to the tune of about N177 Million (Naira).

He was said to have obtained a loan facility over goods he said he was importing into the country.

One of the major stories on the cover was on Nigeria's most reported actress, Ms. Genevieve Ifunnaya Nnaji.

TUPAC VISITS NIGERIA, AFTER FELA ON THE BROADWAY

a double CD family tribute album this summer. To promote the tribute album,
the Makaveli Music Group is organizing ‘The Official Tupac Shakur Family and
Friends Tour 2011’ – a tour aimed at celebrating the life of Tupac Amaru
Shakur who would have been 40 years old on the 16th of June 2011.

excited about promoting in Nigeria, Tupac’s legacy of the youth, creating
something positive out of dire circumstances. It will be our first time in
Africa and we are looking forward to it.”

The concert will consist of performances from an international hip-hop act,
