News : Christian Louboutin Celebrates the Black Woman With Classical Art
Christian Louboutin’s shoes are coveted the world over by ladies whose elevated fashion taste is being reflected by their “red bottoms”.
Though now mainstream because of their popularity and distinctive soles, his pieces are still a splurge for most, showing the stark difference between notoriety and affordability.
Monsieur Louboutin’s footwear have often been called wearable works of art and for his Fall 2011 lookbook, he is bringing that statement to life as he got photographer Peter Lippmann to recreate classical paintings, showcasing art, but also his new collection.
One of the pieces he chose was Portrait d’une négresse which was painted by Marie-Guillemine Benoist in 1800. It features a young black woman with an exposed breast. It was painted six years after slavery was abolished, thus it became a symbol of emancipation for black people as well as for women.
With his new collection, Christian Louboutin acknowledges the fact that a lot of black women appreciate his collection And as the popular saying goes, " luxury is a lifestyle " he has put true this meaning to the statement.
Here is some more information on the shoe included in the lookbook image:
“Marie-Guilleme Benoit’s masterpiece, Portrait d’une negresse, has long been held as a symbol of emancipation and a fine balance between steely determination and femininity. The contrast between the model and her garments is echoed in the Balda Booty, where supple ivory nappa meets ebony patent leather. The stark contrast created through the fusion of fabrics and colour is softened by the delicate ballerina style ‘pointe’ toe and fine ankle strap detailing.”

FUNKE FOWLER AND ABI KUKU's WEDDING INTRODUCTION INSIDE PARKVIEW
Gistmaster.com
Last weekend, Funke Fowler of Leila Fowler boutique and Abi Kuku, Lagos big boy had their traditional wedding introduction.
The Kuku's family with all the emblem of royalty from Ijebu Ode formally met that in-law last weekend in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
The groom is the son of eminent businessman and Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Chief Adebayo Kuku. He is regarded as one of the richest and most influential Ijebu sons.
The first stage of Abi and Funke's marriage was held in Funke's grandma's home inside the elitist Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
Funke looked scintillating in a blue lace with white and silver accessories; while Abi was in his signature white.
Leila's grand mother is the successful educationist. She runs Vivian Fowler Memorial College for girls in Lagos. Funke's father, Chief Babatunde Fowler is the Chairman of Lagos State Board on Internal revenue. He is said to be close to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other members of the Lagos political family.
Gistmaster.com gathered that the two love birds decided to live the rest of their lives together and also set machinery in motion for their wedding , when Abi finally proposed to Leila in London.
It was during the famous Prince Harry and Kate Middleton royal wedding. Though they have been dating for sometime, we gathered Funke got the wedding proposal ring during that period.
The wedding will hold in Lagos and Dubai in November.
Meanwhile when the couple announced their engagement, lots of people criticized Funke that she's an arrogant snob! Others believe she was greatly misunderstood.
Some are also of the opinion that she wanted to have a wedding that is low key, that is why she didn't let most people into the detail of the arrangement. That is certainly impossible said a Lagos boy, considering the prominence of both families in their respective states.

NIGERIA BEAUTY QUEEN, JANE OGBE EMERGE 2ND RUNNER UP AT MISS WORLD CUP CONTEST IN GERMANY
[/caption]Gistmaster.com
One of the activities that were held ahead of the ongoing Under 20
Female World Cup is the Miss World Cup Beauty Pageant. Gorgeous Miss
Jane Ogbe (former Miss International 2007), represented Nigeria and
emerged Second Runner-up at the competition.
The event was held last
Friday June 17, 2011 in Germany and had beauty queens from different
parts of the world in contention.
Tracing Jane’s career, we see a young girl who started as a video
girl, to a professional runway model for various fashion shows
including Omoyemi Akerele & Odion (2006) and Linda Ikeji’s Fashion
Show (2007).
Her first attempt to beauty pageantry was Miss Earth
2007 where she emerged First Runner-up and crowned Miss International
2007. According to her, this competition really gave her exposure and
several opportunities like representing Nigeria at the Miss Globe
International Beauty Pageant 2007 in Albania where she got the title –
Miss Cosmopolitan and a Diplomat certificate from the Mayor of
Tropoja. She was also part of the seven contestants whose pictures
were used to represent the continents of the world in a TV advert for
Albania’s historical postal stamps.
In 2009, Jane represented Nigeria at The Queens Of the World Contest
in Berlin – an experience that re-invited her to partake at the Miss
World Cup Beauty Pageant this year. “It was quite an experience and I
thank God for the opportunity. I am privileged and honoured to
represent Nigeria and our rich cultural heritage”, she says.
Miss Ogbe is from Benue State but was born in Jos, Plateau State. She
is a graduate from Lagos State University and currently based in Abuja
where she runs a modeling agency - grooming and mentoring other young
aspiring beauty models.
