[caption id="attachment_6771" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="A producer,Emem Isong answering questions from reporters when the movie 'Kiss and Tell' was premiered"][/caption]

Nollywood movies has over the years evolved from what it used to be, as many movie producers now take to heart the seriousness of making quality and cinema worthy movie such that can compete with the various Hollywood movies that show in cinema’s nationwide.

Making quality movies isn’t the only factor that aids a movie’s success at the cinema, but most importantly, effective distribution and circulation of these movies to the cinemas nationwide with the aid of an effective distributor who doesn’t only distribute the movies to as many cinemas as possible, but also monitors the progress of the movie at the cinemas and also the time slots allocated to different movies.

A power house distribution company, Blue Pictures which distributes both Nollywood and Hollywood movies to all cinema houses around the country and West Africa region as soon as they are released also attributes the success of movies at the cinema to proper and efficient distribution. Joy Ilibeno, the brain behind Blue Pictures also backed the fact that effective movie distribution is a major factor in the success of movies.

Blue Pictures is a distribution company based on excellence. The company has over time being responsible for distributing many blockbuster Nollywood and Hollywood movies such as Avatar, X-MEN, Prince of Persia, Sex and the City, Inception, The Proposal, Unstoppable, Hangover, Harry Potter etc and also Nollywood movies such as The Mirror Boy, Anchor Baby, The Return of Jenifa, Unwanted Guest, Bent Arrow etc to cinema houses nationwide.

Many of such Nollywood movies that have made great fortunes and returns weren’t just attributed to their cinematic quality and interesting storyline but also to the effectiveness of the movie distributor. One of such movie that made box office with impressive ticket sales and grossing earning of over 32millon naira was “The Return of Jenifa” the movie by talented actress and producer Funke Akindele which made a massive impression at about six cinemas nationwide. Another of such movie was Mirror Boy produced by Obi Emelonye which grossed an approximate.

Speaking further about the company, Joy Ilibeno, a graduate of  Yaba college of technology Lagos said “ we only distribute movies which might have met certain production quality such as good sound quality, picture quality, cast and a compelling story and how the cast are able to interpret their roles and bare the mind of the script writer. Over the years Blue Pictures has worked with various movie Producers to ensure these qualities are met for a long runs success at the box-office.

By Niyi Tabiti

There is no doubt that Blackberry phones are in hot demand in Nigeria. Fashion is not complete without it. I am sure you guys know that that every chic in naija especially in Lagos want to use BB. They are addicted to pinging.

Good. BB has a lot of facilities that make it easy for people to connect. It  has high resolution cameras and the BB messenger for easy messaging.

But the level of obesseion, plus how far girls can go to get a BB, especially the expensive ones such as Black berry Tourch and Porche is alarming.

I was chatting with a collegue the other day and he said "The madness to get one of the luxury item has driven many girls into several immoral acts"

Thats the truth, he insisted. He disclosed that many girls on campus want to use BB by force. I guess Research in Motion the company producing the phone should produce another one "BB by Force"- most of the girls have been sleeping around just because they want to use BB,they want to feel among.

"Niyi, if you see some of these campus chics using BB don't envy them o. They worked for

Primetime Africa crew brings Grammy to Nigerians live as Jaywon begins American tour

NIGERIANS will this Sunday, February 12 have the opportunity of again witnessing live happenings at the oncoming 54th American Grammy awards ceremony scheduled to hold in Los Angeles, California, United States of America.

At present, award winning TV, radio presenters and brains behind Kennis Music record label, Kenny 'Keke' Ogungbe, Dayo 'D1' Adeneye are in Los Angeles making sure that final arrangements for the successful coverage of the show are done. Also, Kennis' music star Jaywon will begin his second tour of American States immediately after the Grammy awards, hitting Houston's Zanziba on February 18 and Washington DC’s Love's Center on February 25. Boston, Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago shows are already sold out. Jaywon's successful tour of America last October which climaxed with his performance on the Nigerian Navy ship, NNS Thunder before it sailed to Nigeria gave birth to this tour.

An excited Kenny Ogungbe, C.E.O of Kennis Music who spoke through his media company, Media Image Managers, MIM, from Los Angeles on Monday night, assured that the seasoned TV crew would not disappoint Nigerians as usual. “What we do every other year is to make sure that Nigerian viewers and fans of our TV and radio shows do not miss out on the action of the Grammy and any other world event that we cover. As such, we bring to all, what ordinarily you would not see when you are watching the awards ceremony on your normal show. On PrimeTime Africa, it is always different,” he said.

Viewers will experience the Grammy and all behind the scenes shots and interviews with American music, movie stars and celebrities on, AIT, Raypower and OGBC FM stations Monday through Friday while Kennis Music International Ray Power network, Tuesday through Saturday weekly will let you in on what you missed on Grammy day. Inspiration FM listeners from Thursday through Saturday will have a piece of the Grammy action too. Kennis Music channel, a music and lifestyle channel which plays Afro centric and music of black origin on Startimes satellite TV will feast on the biggest music award in the world from this Sunday.

Ogungbe, a prolific music presenter and entrepreneur who last December was appointed a member of the Board of Directors, DAAR Communications Plc, said this year’s Grammy promises to be more exciting “and the PrimeTime Africa crew is ever ready to bring the feverish excitement to 150 million Nigerians back home.”

On the US tour of Kennis’ Music and one of Nigeria’s hottest Afro hip hop stars at the moment, Jaywon, Ogungbe also assured everything was on point. “Jaywon took America by storm last October and this gave rise to the clamour by Nigerians, Americans and Africans in the Diaspora here in America for him to do a repeat of the tour. This time around, it’s a bigger tour of the United States and he will be playing at big show centres.”

Jaywon’s music career has been on the rise since the day he won the Kennis Music Easter fiesta talent hunt at the beach about two years ago. Performance slot of five minutes is given to upcoming talents at the show venue with the crowd as judge. Jaywon took the mic that fateful day and when his time lapsed, the crowd stood its ground that he is given more time. Ogungbe, a talent hunter did not miss the drama and months after, he was already a Kennis Music artiste.

The crew is back in the country next month.

HOW BLOGGERS RE-SHAPED NOLLYWOOD'S WARDROBE!

By Niyi Tabiti

Pre-2008 was a period when little attention was given to style in Nigeria movie industry.

Gistmaster brought so much focus on that aspect because glamour is the wheel balance of a true celebrity.

So proud that gistmaster.com and other bloggers gave it a try and it worked. We can say that has helped our stars get their wardrobe right though some still make avoidable mistakes.

Then, Ini Edo was always the worst hit of commenters. (click here to see voters comments on best dressed actress in nollywood) .

For the first time , Gistmaster decided that it was time to recognize 'Miss Stylish' in Nollywood. Most of our readers and celebrities that voted said Rita Dominic deserved it and we had no choice.(Click here to see the party we hosted in honour of Rita Dominic at Swe Bar

Ini Edo is one of the sexiest in nollywood and now she is ranking high on the most fashionable list. Congrats to the stylist who is doing a great job.  Kate..hmmm... always looking young and sexy. I was in company of a German journalist to see Kate Hensahw one day and he said Kate couldnt have been more than 26 years, we all laughed. About a year later, Kate celebrated her 40th birthday at Civic Centre, Lagos. (Click here to see photos of Kate Henshaw the day she won Nollywood's actress of the year) . The fashion police have been kind to Kate.

Stephanie Okereke is a darling. To me she is symbol of a true nollywood star on the red carpet. Well, I am not suprised. What do u expect of a model and a former beauty pageant contestant? She is always well put together with her alluring smile. Fashion Police have also been kind to the engaged actress.

Susan Peters has logged into the big league with her look. She was a model before joing nollywood so we are not suprised that the Benue State born actress is doing well in that aspect.
