SHOW OF STARS AT THE GUINNESS 250 LAUNCH IN NIGERIA

The Guinness 250 launch held on Saturday the 18th could be described in one word ….Awesome,

it was indeed an outing that was well put together and I dare say that every one who turned out for the black carpet was looking extra great, and I mean everyone,

Something quite noticeable was the fact that almost everyone present complied to the dress-code of the evening and what an evening it turned out to be

The Black carpet was invaded by a host of paparazzi from top media channels and while their camera’s greeted the invitees and celebrities alike, some were invited for interviews while others enjoyed the company of friend and Guinness cocktail, before proceeding upstairs for the event proper.

The event itself lived up to and surpassed a lot of my expectations, Frank Edoho steered proceedings brilliantly, Waje brought new melody to the National anthem, Dare-art Alade put up a sterling Performance and Omawumi stunned the guests.

Guinness announced a National Consumer Promotion to celebrate 250 years and reward loyal consumers and asked that we all be in expectation of September 24th as Nigeria raise their glasses and the worldwide celebration of Arthur Guinness day” (I wonder what they’ll do next!)

And the highpoint of the night, wait for this- was the Unveil of Jay-Jay Okocha as the new Guinness ambassador, and very fitting too…. I think

Then it was capped with knock-out performances by Banky W, MI and DJ Jimmy-Jatt held down at the Volar Bar, and whatsmore! the Drinks were all on Guinness

So I say a big thumbs up to Guinness at 250 and the wonderful team for putting together such an impressive outing, we’ll be on the look out come September 24th and Reach For Greatness as they said in Guinness.

Alima Oyofo: Sexy Piping hot!

For Alima, what started as an experiment at her sister’s factory – Odio Mimonet just about four years ago has morphed into the Brand ‘LilPepperfriend’. The phrase which is derived from her nickname ‘atawewe’ or ‘small pepper’ reflects the vibrancy of the Brand. Lilpepperfriend was established in the summer of 2008 and is synonymous with eclectic one-of- a-kind accessories[bags and Ankara/aso-oke slippers], edgy colours that pop and indeed has been described as art by all lovers of all things cultural and current. At the Vlisco show in Feb. 2009, ‘Lilpepperfriend bags where showcased alongside Odio Mimonet and they served as the perfect complement to the fantastic outfits thus eliciting a standing ovation from the enthralled audience. Alima is a unique artist undefinable by boundaries. Her beauty is matched with her brilliance, her unpredictability matched with a consistency in delivery, all in a small frame bursting forth with life and vivacity.

NADEJDA OMOTOSHO - Creative Analyst

Pretty Financial Analyst, Nadejda Omotosho who is the founder of Aidan-Mo bags has been silently honing her skills with her unusual high fashion pieces. Another vivacious fashion accessory designer, her style of bags is extremely flexible yet sophisticated, adventuorous yet conservative. She glitters with creative skills drawn from a confluence of ingenuity and inspiration. Although Nadia, as she is popularly known, is no longer with Adrian-Mo as the full time CEO, she continually provides full time creative direction for the Brand that began in her living room.

LUCY ODIM – Independent Style

An Independent woman by all standards, Lucy’s courtship with fashion began after she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in French. Lucy’s crave to be independent propelled her to create traditional outfits popularly known as Senegalese which was greeted with rapt attention. With time her growing clientele demanded more and Lucy was thus pressed with creating a suitable accessory to complement her unique designs. Her crave saw her reject the trend of Bag merchants, and she began to churn out her own personal designs. Today D LUNE [Her Brand], showcases versatile works running from leather to the damask, aso-oke and a diverse range of eye catching works of art.

LINDA MESROB – The Stitch Princess

Popularly known as Skin, Linda Mesrob has been ‘Bag’ing’ it for the past four years. The award winning bag maker’s signature style are the bold and the colourful stitches that run through her creative pieces. Another signature of hers is the lavish use of carvings. After leaving the American University of Paris, Linda fell in love with bags rather than clothes. It was then she started to make bags under the label SKIN which has evolved into a high end couture line known as LINDA MESROB COUTURE. She enhances her own style with that of her Clients to evolve the Avant Garde collection most women can’t resist. With an outlet at the Mega Plaza in Victoria Island in Lagos and a display section in Gallery Lafayette in Paris, Linda Mesrob caters to the accessory needs of the average style woman who is desirous of something different from the regular designer bags. She has featured alongside international Brands like Adebayo Jones and Tiffany Amber. Her love for Mohair and other wildlife leather like croc, lizard, snake etc. showcases the roaring label Linda Mesrob.

Talk, talk, talk is all over town and it is such that can not be ignored.Rumour mongers are saying that singing duo, Tunde and Wunmi Obe (popularly known as T.W.O) would soon quit music.
According to people close to T.W.O, they are diverting their huge human and financial resources into night time and weekend television. However, a spokperson for T.W.O denied the rumour.
‘They can’t be quitting just yet, says a spokesperson. It has been a long career and they have a lot of fans that look up to them, TV has always been their thing, same with music and they’ve been able to manage the two together over the years, so what is stopping them now?’

Livin' DAVIDA-Loca

Davida Okparah, the Barrister turned pristine Shirt Maker, has leapt off the edge, breaking every rule with her latest collection - POWELA. The 2004 St. Moritz Style Awards Winner - Davida's vintage shirt-making prowess was put to the test on this collection as she ventured into the unfamiliar territory of dress-making. The shirts are anything but ordinary and mundane. From what I can identify, the collection outlines three major genres; from the sassy office wears which spice up the bland day, the classic shirts, highlighted with a touch feistiness and the demure dresses with the subtle undertones appropraite for the sexy chic. This inimitable collection with its dazzling eye-popping colours, intricate designs and inspiring brilliance; confers upon the style fashonista the right to be FIERCE, FABULOUS AND FLAWLESS.
