RESEARCH:GENEVIEVE NNAJI MORE POPULAR THAN PRESIDENT YAR'DUA ONLINE

'Nollywood star, Genevieve Nnaji is more popular than Nigeria's president,Mr.Umaru Yar'Dua' .This is the outcome of a shocking research jointly conducted last month by Astaroberts,EMMS New York and Gistmaster.com .According to findings, more people are likely to search for Genevieve Nnaji's name online than that of Mr.Yar'Dua.
The research also show that more people are likely to engage in topic concerning Genevieve than Mr.Yar'Dua. Findings also show that the Wikipaedia of Ms.Nnaji has more traffic than that of Mr.Yar'Dua.The same goes for another Nollywood actress,Ini Edo.Research from hundreds of blogs and websites also show the same figure in favour of the nollywood stars.
Genevieve gathered more figures than the President of the country.This is another testimony that Nigeria film industry players are more popular than the political class.Is Genevieve likely to win an election where Mr.Yar'Dua is involved?

BREAKING NEWS:ACTING PRESIDENT JONATHAN GOODLUCK SACK INEC BOSS, PROFESSOR MAURICE IWU


Acting President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has ordered that the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, (INEC) Professor Maurice Iwu proceed on a pre-disengagement leave, with immediate effect.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the spokesman of the Acting President Mr. Ima Niboro which stated that “the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has directed the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Maurice Iwu, to proceed on pre- disengagement leave with immediate effect.”

“The Acting President’s directive is in consonance with Section 155(1) (c), which stipulates that the Chairman and members of the Independent Electoral Commission shall hold office for a period of five years”.

Professor Iwu’s tenure however expires on 13th June, 2010.

According to Mr. Niboro “He has also been directed to hand over to the most senior National Commissioner, who shall oversee the activities of the commission pending the appointment of a substantive chairman”.

The Acting President thanked the outgoing Chairman of INEC for his service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavours.

Flamboyant businessman, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim have acquired Nigeria Eagle Airline (formerly known as Virgin Nigeria) through his Nicon Group of Companies.The deal was said to have been a debt buy over deal with UBA Plc amounting to about $250 million (about 37 billion Naira).
  Mr.Ibrahim, a Nigerian billionaire is stepping into the shoes of Mr.Richard Branson, the British born business mogul behind Virgin Group Worldwide as the Chairman of the company. Virgin Nigeria changed its name last year after a fall out deal with Mr. Branson, whose company championed the emergence of the national carrier in the airspace.
The company went through financial storms,especially with its indebtedness to a bank, UBA Plc. Durning this time,several key players in the company were also sacked, while some were forced to resign. Those who didn't see a future again in the company also left on their own.
Gistmaster gathered that the new management of Nigeria Eagle airline under the leadership of Mr.Ibrahim sacked the ceo of the company, Captain Dapo Olumide early this week.Kinfa Fekado, an Ethiopian has reportedly taken over the position.

CORRUPTION TRIAL:NIGERIAN COURT SEEK N10 BILLION NAIRA BOND (ABOUT $90 MILLION) FROM SENATOR OVER TRAVEL DOCUMENT

A Nigerian Court is seeking N10 Billion (Naira) bond from Senator Nicholas Ugbane, who is currently standing trial with others over corruption charges.Ugbane , who is representing Kogi East in the upper arm of Nigeria Legislative House (House of Senate) had applied to the Federal High Court, Abuja through his counsel so that his seized travel documents would be  released to him.Ugbane said he needed to travel to Virgina,United States of America for urgent medical attention.
  Justice Adebukunola Banjoko of the Federal High Court said Ugbane must bring a N10 Billion Naira Bail Bond from a reputable bank as a condition before the documents can be released, stating further that the conditionality is necessary so that Ugbane can return to the country and continue with the trial.Aside the bail bond, Ugbane is also expected to be guaranteed by his counsel.
 Ugbane, the Chairman Senate committee on Power, was arrested and arraigned in court alongside his House of Representative counterpart,Hon. Ndidi Elumelu and others over allegations of corruption and misappropriation of N5.2 Billion (Naira) Rural electrification Agency fund.They were charged by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission(EFCC) to court over alleged corrupt practices.Ugbane is facing 130 charges.
