Despite his aristocratic background, friends describe the late Gbegi Ojora as a fun loving and humble man who was well respected. He died at First Consultant Hospital in Lagos. Gbegi was finally laid to rest at The Vault Cemetary, Ikoyi on Friday 15 April 2011.
Gbegi's wife was greatly consoled by her brother in law,Dapo and her own son who sat beside her. It was if he was telling her "mommy don't cry, daddy will soon come back"
Dapo Ojora led other siblings to pay last respect to their departed brother. Niyi Tabiti sighted prominent Nigerians coming to pay their last rest. The list include Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State, who is married to Toyin, sister to the deceased, Nduka Obaigbena, the flamboyant publisher of Thisday Newspaper and Arise magazine was also there. Funmi Goka the Deputy magaging Director of Agip Oil and her husband, Frankie came to pay their respect too.
The same with Helen Prest Ajayi, a former Miss Nigeria, Alali Hart, Deremi Ajidaun a former aide of Femi Fani-Kayode and his wife, Michael Effiong, editor of Ovation Magazine International, Erelu Angela Adebayo and her husband, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Pastor Paul Adefarasin and his wife, Ifeayin were also present, Chief Frank Ogboro and Ambassador Musliu Obanikoro also made it to the funeral service in honour of Gbegi Ojora. Actress, Joke Silva was also at the service and one can see through her mood that the untimely death of Gegi was a rude shock to her.
