On Friday, April 22, 2011 a Red Carpet Premiere will be held in honor of the long awaited first ever biopic for a Nigerian artiste, the movie ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ at the Atrium, Cinema Floor of the Silverbird Cinemas in Lagos.
The Ghetto Dreamz premiere will begin by 4pm with a red carpet event that will parade a lot of Nollywood stars and dignitaries, while the movie proper will start showing by 6pm. Another notable scene to be put up that night is the display of Dagrin’s accidental car bought over by Stingomania records for the shooting of the movie.
Directed by Daniel Adenimokan 'Ghetto Dreamz' tells the story of the late rap artiste DAGRIN. The film chronicles the growing years of Dagrin, his struggles, his rise to fame and his death. Ghetto Dreamz features Trybson the Stingomania’s hip hop sensation as Dagrin and other nollywood stars like Doris Simeon, Rachel Oniga, Pa Kasumu, Kenny Saint brown, Jaywon and a fast rising Oyindamola Odesola and others.
Meanwhile, prior to the premiere of ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ on Wednesday April 20th, a mini concert will be held in honour of Dagrin at the Atrium, Cinema floor of the Silverbird Galleria. This concert is a taste of what will happen at the Dagrin memorial Concert to be held at the National Stadium (Gymnasium Hall) on April 30th. It is expected to feature some of the hottest young stars in the Nigerian entertainment industry and a Candlelight secession to honour the memory of Dagrin and to mark the first anniversary of his death. Some of the superstars already scheduled to perform include Olamide, Dj Zeez, Naeto C, KSB, Jaywon, YQ, Goldie, Edreez Abdulkareem, Sheyman, General Pype, Trybson Dudukoko, Baba Nee, Kas, Flavour, and Obesere PK1st and others.
Speaking on the movie premiere Ope Banwo the producer said ‘this project is actually bigger than what we thought, a lot of Dagrin’s fans are thankful for what we have done and have not been silent about it. These are the facts that get us confident that the movie will succeed. Ghetto Dreamz will be in the cinemas across the country from April 22nd so people can go all out to discover all they never knew about Dagrin’.

Is almost a yr now,we have miss d king of yoruba raper. No body can be like dagrin.May ur soul continue 2 rest in perfect peace.
ReplyDeletethe film cannot possibly tell stories of dagrin. its too early to shoot a movie of a young boy that died a very tragic death, everything is not money u know. there r principles of humanity, then the accident car on display? GOD will punish all involved. for example what was the last thing he was going to do about his music before he died, so many things that cannot be explained. are they trying to put an end to his story. wats going on Nigerians..? why doesn't anybody speak up and out .........frustrated Fan.. i will not be seeing this movie
ReplyDeleteDagrin is a 9ice guy &d best rappers in nigeria
ReplyDeleteIs just sumfyn they r doing in honor of him. Lets agree dis is d first time something like this has happened in d history of nigeria entertainment industry and im impressed. The young man stayed just a few minutes in d industry and gained more popularity in death is not like he was in the industry for ages bfr his death...so what is there to wait for. All the movie is tryin to show you is about his hustle befr he finally made it...and to keep his memory as lng as they can. Dis is nigeria we all dnt hv that time n i bet u in five yrs time we wld all forget him...so please be grateful. Cd d comedian and ashley nwosu just died but no one is even bothered if its yankee dnt you nw hw they will announce and grieve about it. Dagrin for some reason shook d industry for d first time...so appreciate d fact dat some one is keeping his memory alive by putting a movie together fr him.whether for money sake or not its an effort made that has never been made befr in 9ja. So dnt get vexed
