Prince Kayode Tejuosho: Executive profile,Polo Player

Prince Kayode Tejuosho, "KayTej" as he is fondly called, was born in May 1965 and is the second son of Oba Adedapo Tejuoso (currently the Osile Oke-Ona of Egba) and Olori Adetoun Tejuoso. Incidentally, his father is the only surviving son of his industrious grandmother, Bisoye Tejuoso, the Iyalode of Egbaland; while his mother, a princess in her own right, is the great-granddaughter of the Awujale Gbelegbua, and
granddaughter of Reverend Sadare, the founder of Ijebu-Ode Grammar school.

A royal indigene of Ogun State, Kayode attended University of Lagos Staff School, Government College Ibadan, Cotton College and Concord College - both in the United Kingdom, as well as University of Lagos where he graduated from with a BSc in Computer Science.

Prince Kayode served his National Youth Service (NYSC) year at Pipeline Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He subsequently partnered with the government of Plateau State (Power, Steel and Mining divisions) to bridge the gap between government, corporations and the public in general.

Kayode then joined the family owned horticulture and animal husbandry business to work as the Administrator. Other sectors that Kayode has worked in include the Construction industry where he dealt in the outright sale and lease of heavy-duty equipment.

Kayode's work has placed him in the strategic position to be able to execute contracts for and on behalf of various state governments. This has culminated in his current partnership with the Lagos State government on Waste Management, Disposal and Collection. In addition to this, Kayode is chairman of LAGTECH Limited, part of Lagos Lottery System, and has created employment opportunities with LAGTECH for individuals.

Kayode is part of the dynamic team that revolutionized the Lottery industry in Nigeria and has helped to pioneer technological advances resulting in the provision of support systems via data processing, Point of Sale terminals (POS), as well as improved Lottery transactions.

It is the singular need to succeed at whatever he sets his mind to, that has contributed to the strides he has achieved with LAGTECH. With this achievement under his belt, Kayode has decided to do more to bolster personal self-worth in individuals, particularly in terms of financial independence and empowerment.

His Ogun Peoples' Empowerment publicly launched the Poverty Alleviation Initiative in the Ogun State capital Abeokuta, in June 2010.

Kayode Tejuoso's philosophy is to help...and not necessarily to seek thanks!

Going "public" was as a result of pressures from political associates and past beneficiaries of his largesse and passion for people who perhaps have lacked economic opportunity but have had ambition and drive.

KayTej has been politically active from a very young age! It all started with his involvment in his childhood Ilupeju community politics. He grew up in Ilupeju, which falls within the area described as Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

By the late eighties, Kayode had become truly politically active in Ilupeju. A member of the then Social Democratic Party (SDP), he was appointed Co-ordinator of Youths of Mushin Local Government Area during the campaign of late MKO Abiola; and during the regime of late General Ibrahim Abacha, Kayode joined the Grassroot Democratic Movement, where he became Director of Finance in the office of the Lagos State party chairman.

He joined the Alliance for Democracy (AD), a political party fashioned upon the "pro-people" policies and principles of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Not content with just being a 'floor' member, KayTej quickly became involved in running the party in his ward. He

rose steadily through the ranks to become the Financial Secretary of the AD in Lagos State. Of course, his loyalty to the Awo cause has never faltered; his decision was to evolve with and join the then AC, Action Congress, into which the AD metamorphosed. As a member of the AC, Kay was appointed Director of Mobilization of the Independent Campaign Group of Governor Fashola's then election campaign in 2007.

Prince Kay is, and always has been, a grassroots man! Kayode Tejuoso's strong representation at the August 9th Convention of his newly-named political party Acton Congress of Nigeria (ACN), was no fluke. His supporters in Ogun State wanted the party to recognise their man as a grassroot man.

Having provided hope and, in a sense, relief, with his economic empowerment initiatives to so many people in the state, the people decided it was time to reveal their "best-kept secret" (and weapon!) to finally defeat the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state!

Kayode is married to Funmilayo Smith - a professional politician, lawyer, holder of three university degrees (including a Masters Degree!) and former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. They have five children.
