The editor of THISDAY, Simon Kolawole, has resigned in response to Sunday's new appointments at the newspaper which saw him removed as editor and reassigned as editorial director.

Even Lady Gaga does not go gaga, in the real sense of it, she only excites us with out of this world dresses.
Well, we saw ex-miss world, Agbani Darego going gaga at the just concluded Arise Africa Fashion Week! If you don't get the drift, wait for gistmaster to serve it to you fresh and hot.
 Agbani showed off (even though many saw it as a wrong move) at the just concluded Arise Africa Fashion Week. A presenter from Silverbird had approached her for short interview on the red carpet, Agbani did not even stop talkless of having the normal red carpet chit, chat. Instead she just looked back and told the reporter, "Tell Bruce or guy to call me" 
Meaning the reporter is too small for her, rather, she should tell Ben Bruce, the chairman of Silverbird or Guy one of the Directors to call her!
   Agbani was a past Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria but she later won Miss World. To many, Agbani did not leverage on her position to actually make things happen on the international scene. Last year, she became a gentle touch ambassador and recently,she also  got an endorsement deal from Arik Air Nigeria.

LATEST NEWS:MODELS PROTEST 100 POUNDS PER DAY PAY AT ARISE AFRICA FASHION WEEK 2012

 Some Nigerian models who felt that they were being paid 'peanuts' compared to what other models coming from outside would be earning at Arise Africa Fashion Week decided to stage a walk out on Wednesday 7 March 2012. As at the time of going to press, the issue was yet to be resolved.Sources told gistmaster.com that the Nigerian models would earn twenty five thousand Naira per day (100 Pounds Sterling).Some of the models were called in for talks.
The event, which was billed to have started on Tuesday 6 March have now been defered for two days now, with insiders blaming logistic problems.Gistmaster.com gathered that some of the difficulties may have been due to negligent on the part of some people who did not sort out neccessary things before yesterday.
 We sent a mail to a member of the media team of Arise but no response yet.
  Arise Africa Fashion Week organization is headed by Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, a man regarded as one of the finest newspaper/magazine publishers in Africa.Obaigbena has also carved a niche for himself as the organizer of some of the biggest and most sought after social, business events in Africa.
The first edition of Arise took place at the Sandton Convention Centre, South Africa in collaboration with Africa Fashion International (FI). Last edition took place at Federal Palace Hotel,Victoria Island, Lagos-Nigeria.This year 77 designers have been lined up to take part in the fashion week.


 

ARISE AFRICA FASHION WEEK DESIGNER LIST OUT

Due to the phenomenal response to participate in the much anticipated, ARISE Magazine Fashion Week, which last year hosted 5,000 guests, 51 designers, 81 models, 5 musical acts over three days – ARISE organisers have announced that it will return to Lagos in March 2012, only this time it will feature 77 participants from 6 continents – including designers as far away as India, the Caribbean, USA, Europe and Africa.

The ARISE Magazine Fashion Week – Lagos 2012 fashion extravaganza will run for an extended period of SIX days from Tuesday 6th March to Sunday 11th March 2012 in THREE tents on the grounds of the luxurious 5-Star Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria.

AFRICAN TOP DESIGNERS SET TO GLOW AT THE ARISE AFRICA FASHION WEEK IN SOUTH AFRICA...TIFFANY AMBER,ADE BAKARE,LISA FOLAWIYO OTHERS FROM NIGERIA

The city of Johannesburg, South Africa is set to host one of the biggest fashion shows in the continent of Africa this month. The event, which is being together by African Fashion International is in collaboration with ARISE, a top magazine produced by Leaders and Company, the publishers of THIS DAY Newspapers in Nigeria.The event is scheduled to hold between 12-19 June 2009.
Top designers from all over Africa such as Egypt, Kenya, Ghana Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda and Mozambique are expected to be part of the event. From Nigeria, we have top designers such as Folake Akindele-Coker moving the proudly African fashion theme with her label Tiffany Amber, Lanre Da-Silva of LDA fashion, Odio Oseni of Odio Mimoment and Lisa Folawiyo with her Jewel by Lisa accessory.Ade Bakare and Samatha Cole are two Nigeria designers who will fly to the Sun City with their creative designs.

According to a statement from the website of the organisers, Mr.Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of Arise Magazine disclosed that the Arise Africa Fashion Week 2009 would provide an enabling platform for African designers to showcase their creativity to the rest of the world.
