In Nigeria, fashion writers are also doing their best to fall into the league of those they report.Gone are the days when you see reporters hanging out in one corner or looking shabbily. These days Fashion & style writers are so confident that they can do what celebrities do on red carpet...even better!
www.niyitabiti.com captured Azuka Ogujuiba, a member of THISDAY Newspapers style team and someone (I presumed) is her collegue last night right on the red carpet of Kunle Afolayan's Irapada movie premiere ( Sunday 3 August 2008) at Agip Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.
They later headed for City People Fashion & Style Awards, which was also taking place at Shell Hall located inside the same building.

UNCOMMON FASHIONISTA:WHEN BIOLA OKOYA STEPS OUT LAST NIGHT AT CITY PEOPLE FASHION & STYLE AWARDS

Biola Okoya use to be one of the most talked about big girls in Nigeria until she fizzled out of social scene for sometime. Now, it look as if the flamboyant daughter of billionaire business mogul, Alhaji Rasaq Akanni Okoya is back on the scene!

When it comes to partying, Biola was in the top league of those who organise the most sassy and flamboyant parties in town (The kind that you see even top brass socialites begging for invitation)
All that have reduced and you can only catch her at few parties these days. http://www.niyitabiti.com/ sighted her last night ( 3 August 2008) stepping into the venue of the City People Fashion and Style Awards at MUSON Centre, Onikan. She came with Nma Bakassi, Chief Mrs. Florence Ita-Giwa.
My camera could not resist taking those gold rings she wore on her feet! Here, it is captured and arrowed by http://www.niyitabiti.com/
Once married to childhood love (Akinwande Johnson) , Biola is the fifth child of her father and second child of her mum. Party or no party, she regarded as one of the brains behind the vast business empire of her father which spans manufacturing, property etc.
She was the topic of gossip bewteen two socialites that saw her at MUSON Centre last night. One of them said she was suprised to see Biola at the party. She also wondered why the 42 year old mother of three has not remarried years after her official divorce from Mr.Johnson. The lady also asked if it was true the gist that Biola relocated abroad some years back to ease the tension of controversial stories written about her every now and them by various tabloids.
The other one said she was not suprised that Biola spent so much money on fashion accessories, afterall she is very dedicated to the day to day running of her father companies.
Hmmm...she works hard and plays hard (Like my friend would say) ...I concluded!( abi mo paro ni?)

MOVIE PREMIERE:STONE FACE THE FIRST ECOWAS FULL CAST MOVIE GOES TO SILVERBIRD GALLERIA ON 16 AUGUST 2008 WITH A WONDROUS RED CARPET SHOW

Faced with abject economic poverty, Nadia Buari, the protagonist of Stone Face, a Jet Set Entertainment production had two options. Sell her body in exchange for a few crisp Naira notes or continue to suffer economic discomfort. But that is not all, to add to her stress, her beauty and intelligence attract more trouble than she is equipped to cope with. Thus she finds herself on collision course with the Vice President’s daughter inadvertently because her boyfriend has developed a yet undefined romantic interest in her.

According to Kemi Otegbade, Heartlink Events Boss, Nadia Buari’s reaction to unwarranted hatred is capable of psychologically liberating individuals who in offices, market places, and other business environments find themselves fighting a battle of survival and self preservation.

Back to the issue of Nadia, she is eager to avoid “under skirt woman resources marketing” and is so down to earth, she decides to borrow money rather than steal and excel through hard work.

The Heartlink Events and Human Resource Consultant explained further that in society, “Man” within this context, symbolic of human beings in general, is faced with various day to day challenges and the way these problems are handled determine to a large extent the ability of the individual technically referred to as a brand to become a social, economic, political, religious success, failure or a societal nuisance as in the cases of Nadia and Uche Jombo respectively.

Kemi explains that while Uche Jombo, the spoilt daughter of the Vice President causes so much havoc, Nadia on her part was busy trying to make the society a better place. But by and large Uche gives the story a refreshing comic twist that drastically neutralizes the tension generated by mass killings verbal and physical warfare. She urged movie lovers and professionals in the movie industry to be part of the Stone Face premiere scheduled to take place on August 16th, 2008 at Silverbird Galleria.

Tickets, which cost N5, 000 for V.I.P and N2, 500 economy are currently on sale at Wrangler outlets all over Lagos, Silverbird Galleria, The Palms Shopping Mall and Heartlink Events office at Surulere. For phone enquiries call:07027610781 or 08029724825.

Stone Face feature artistes such as Nadia Buari from Ghana, Ramsey Nouah and youthful Uche Jombo, from Nigeria, Adrienne Koutouan and Ahmed Souaney from Cote D’ Ivoire to mention a few. The movie was directed by Emeka Nwabueze and Simi Opeoluwa’s House of Marco did justice to post production..
