BREAKING NEWS:ALAO-AKALA WINS COURT OF APPEAL JUDGMENT TODAY-COURT SAYS HIS ELECTION AS GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE IS VALID

The Court of appeal today in Nigeria upholds the election of Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala as the governor of Oyo State. The governorship candidate of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Senator Abiola Ajimobi, had dragged Alao-Akala to court over what he described as irregularities orchestrated by Alao Akala in connection with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).Ajumobi had earlier lost at the lower court but appealed against it.

A source in the state house who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that a lot of people are happy because Alao-Akala was not sacked by the court because he is not stingy like some political office holders who oly spend for their family members alone. He spends for everybody so they like him. “Assuming his election was annulled,don’t be surprised to see many people hanging themselves because they can never find a generous man like him” he said

ADEOYA ,MARKETING MIX MD MARRIES FLORENCE

Last weekend,Akin Adeoya,the hardworking Managing Director of Marketing Mix got married to Florence the young lady he considered as the flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone. The went to Ikeja Registry and reception was at Balmoral Hall,Oregun,Lagos.
Adeoya and Florence met in the cause of work. According to their love story, Florence came to Marketing Mix as a youth corp (NYSC) member. Adeoya saw the qualities of a 'married-able' woman he would like to keep forever and before everyone knew what was happening he proposed. It is the story of a man shooting the cupid arrow and meeting his target!
Adeoya runs Marketing Mix, a PR outfit which manages lucrative accounts such MTN, a leading telecom company in Nigeria.He is also the publisher of M2, a marketingand brand communication margazine.

VIRGIN NIGERIA DMD BEGINS MEDIA TOUR

Newly appointed Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Virgin Nigeria Airline, Captain Dapo Olumide, this morning commenced a tour of media houses across the country.

Accompanied by Mrs. Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, the Head Corporate Communications and Sam, the media Relation manager, the team visited Newswatch Magazine on Billingsway, Oregun and Daily Independent Newspaper, Ikeja,Lagos,today.

The DMD explained that the tour is aimed at thanking the Nigerian press for it support over the years and to re-affirm its corporate commitment to customer value.
Olumide, whose experience in the aviation industry as a pilot spans over 25 years before he had a short stint in the banking sector describe as unfounded, speculations that the company is going under just because they stop long haul trip to destinations such as Dubai,London an South Africa. According to him, the new masterplan of the company is to utilize the vast potentials provided by regional routes.
He also explained that the company would rather consolidate efforts in ensuring that they adequately provide effective services to passengers going to places like Kinsshasha, Dakar,Banjul and other places in Africa.
When the time is ripe, we would go back on the long haul route with aircrafts that has modern facilities like bed and so on, he said.
He stated that Virgin Nigeria is healthy. The reason for the recent downsizing was because they stopped certain routes and there was no need to keep people on the payroll without offering value in return.
On the issue of why most Nigerian airlines are still finding it difficult to compete with their foreign counterparts, he explained that the facilities the foreign airlines get are usually long term whereas the ones given here are on short term basis. For instance, a foreign airline can buy an aircraft and buy over a period of say 25 years but here, that kind of facility is not guaranteed because the banks want their money back in say 5 years.
The DMD noted that contrary to reports in certain quarters that Sir Richard Branson has taken his share out of Virgin Nigeria, the British Millionaire still own 49 per cent equity in the company as at this moment.
Olumide and his team, were well received by the two media houses they visited today. Olumide, a former pilot for Mrs. Maryam Babangida in her days as First Lady of Nigeria, formally presented a 'Glide' the official in flight magazine the airline to the media houses.
At Newswatch, the team were received by the senior editorial exceutives led by Mr.Soji Akinrinade,Dan Abu and others.
At Daily Independent, they were received by a delegation consisting of top editorial executives such as the Chief Executive, Mr.Ted Iwere, Mr. Akpandem James,Musikilu Mojeed, Habeeb Haruna, Rotimi Durojaiye, Tunde Abatan and others.

ARA SET TO DAZZLE DIGNITARIES AS ZENA IGBINEDION WEDS IN BENIN THIS WEEKEND

Talking drum prodigy and African culture ambassador, Ara, would pivot the stage in Benin, Edo State Nigeria this weekend as she performs at the wedding of Zena, daughter of former governor Lucky and Eki Igbinedion.

Gistmaster gathered that Zena, the grand daughter of Esama of Benin Kingdom, High Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion would be getting married to Ebeagbo.on the Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March 2009. Zena is popular because of her lingerie shop in Victoria Island yet she works in a blueship corporate organisation.

This wedding is coming shortly after a carnival like wedding ceremony, which took place in the Igbinedion household.Remember, Omosede,the last daughter of the Patriarch of the family and his wife, Lady Cherry got married to Prinze Akenzua an it was attended by the movers and shakers of the society.

DAREY RELEASES NEW ALBUM ...SUPPORTS CANCER CAMPAIGN WITH PROCEEDS FROM ALBUM +HIS UN.DAREY.TED TV SHOW

The guy is fine, the guy is fortunate; the guy is fashion fashionable…what more? the guy is fabulous!!! These are the soothing words from most female fans who found the totally repackaged Darey, irresistible.
Yesterday (10 March 2008), the scion of late music legend, Art Alade proved his pulling power as his press conference alone attracted some of the heavyweights in the Nigerian music industry. 2face Idibia, D’banj, 9ice, Banky W, Dr.Seed, Ikechukwu, MI, Paul Okoye of Psquare, H-Man and others were in attendance.A visibly elated Solomon Shonaiya, the CEO of Soul Muzik announced to the press that the much awaited second album of Darey entitled un.Darey.ted would be released into the market by 31 March 2009.

According to Soul Music,
‘Not The Girl’, ‘Carry Dey Go’, ‘With This Woman’ and ‘More’ are some of the early singles from the album. All accompanied with amazing big-budget concept-driven videos, the resultant impact is testimony to the fact that true talent and hardwork have not stopped paying dividends.
Other tracks on the album include ‘Go!’, ‘Thinkin’, ‘No Stars’, ‘Style na Style Ft. 9ice’, ‘Keep your head up’, ‘Stay Ft. Naeto C’ and ‘Let you Know Ft. Pheel’
The album was produced over a period of three years and he worked with Producers like Tee-Y Mix and Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo (who co-wrote Not the Girl). And there are interesting collaborations with Naeto C, 9ice, Pheel and 2face Idibia.
High quality videos were shot on location in Capetown South Africa.
Remarkably,Darey said he would be using part proceeds of his album says to promote the cancer awareness,adding that it is not enough for everyone to focus on HIV/AIDS,there are other demanding issues that needs urgent attention.
Darey also informed us that he is working on a TV show that would give up and coming and coming artists the opportunity to express themselves.It would be shot in different parts of Lagos where he grew up such as Bariga,FESTAC and Yaba.Winners have the chance of going home with a million Naira and recording deals.
Darey, a musician,master compere and second runner up at Project Fame competition in South Africa is says he is ready to give the undertated artists in Nigeria the opportunity to express their talent.
He noted that they already have support from SILVERBIRD organisation.
