The Jewel By Lisa Global Minimalism SS2011 Collection sees a slight departure from the traditional ankara fabric we have come to associate with the label with. But yet it still retains all our favourite Jewel By Lisa appeal - everyday modern pieces for the ultra stylish woman handcrafted to perfection with contemporary use of embellishments that fuse tradition,through an insertion of the traditional ankara fabric here and there. Quite a number of fabric types are seen converging in harmony in this collection. From jersey to royale, shantung silks to organza, silk georgette ,silks and the signature print factor, JBL nailed it.

SWAHILI AND MOZAMBIQUE FASHION WEEK PARTNERSHIP STRENGHTENS

The 6th edition of the annual Mozambique fashion week will take place from the 6-11 December in Maputo , Mozambique . Swahili  and Mozambique fashion week collaboration begun in year 2009 when Adelia and Sheila Tique represented Mozambique at Swahili fashion week 2009 and the later was represented at Mozambique fashion week by Jamilla Vera swai.

“This year Swahili fashion week 2010 Marinella Rodriguez represented Mozambique and we are proud and honoured to select Manju msitta to represent Swahili Fashion week at such a prestigious event in Maputo during the pan African showcase on 11 December” stated Swahili Fashion week organiser Mustafa Hassanali

“It's a pleasure representing Tanzania and Swahili Fashion Week at this years Mozambique Fashion Week. I hope to fly the Tanzanian and east African flag as region high at this world class event.” says Manju msitta

Manju was selected by International producer Jan Malan umzingeli in conjunction with Swahili Fashion Week as who best to represent Tanzania based on their quality and consistency of their creative work.

“This is just the Beginning of Strengthening of Not only Political ties between Tanzania and Mozambique  but also Cultural ties too. The Bond shall grow Deeper and stronger Year after year” noted Hassanali.

On the other note Swahili fashion week will host THE WORLD AIDS DAY party on 4 December at Mercury’s in Zanzibar, The event organised in conjunction with Explore Zanzibar is aimed at fundraising for  Zapha+ (Zanzibar Association of people living with HIV/AIDS) . The Party is to be hosted by ace celebrity presenter Abby patjess which shall see DJ eddy from Zanzibar , keep party revellers entertained throughout the night.

“Its our responsibility as individuals and organisation, for the social and economical development of the society and with that in mind Swahili Fashion week aims at supporting people living with HIV/AIDS. Amongst the organisation being supported for past three years is the Tanzania Mitindo House and we hope we can advocate to a far and further reach within Tanzania ” concluded Hassanali

STYLIST OF THE WEEK -LUCY PHIL EBOSIE


LUCY PHIL EBOSIE
Delectable and good natured Lucy Phil Ebosie is a stylist with a rare knack for creating the impossible. Her unflinching drive for excellence immediately distinguishes her from the pack. Graduating with distinctions in Law at the prestigious University of Leeds only attests to her unique persona. Her sojourn into the fashion world was activated by an outstanding professional tutorship from the only the finest fashion schools in the UK. Her years of study in the Saks Academy London and the highly reputed London School of Beauty and Make-up give her a vast repository of knowledge and insight in the intricacies of make-up. She also obtained a Diploma in wardrobe styling from Istituto Marangoni and foundational certifications from the Oxbridge Tutorial College.
Her magnum opus is as impressive as it is intimidating. Her work at the R.A.G. Fashion Show hosted by the University Of Leeds involved styling over 60 models with outfits that spanned a decade of fashion. This broadened her exposure and communication as she related personally with stores such as Louis Vuitton, House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols and Reiss. She put her make-up skills learnt at the SAKS Academy London to practice working as the assistant to the head make-up artist at MAC Cosmetics. She was also employed as a make-up artist and a fashion stylist for the first 2009 Victor and Rolf magazine AD, in which the theme of the shoot was lace and leather. Her understanding of the Nigerian Fashion Terrain has been broadened with her experience as a Fashion and Beauty editor with THISDAY Style where she conducted a private fashion film for the soon to be legendary hat maker in Lagos; John 3v3.
Her finesse displayed in high fashion styling and makes her an indispensable asset and we are glad her to have her on the MORSI couture board.

MTN ENRICHMENT SEMINAR IS FINALLY HERE WITH DAVID PLOUFFE

MTN Nigeria has concluded plans to use its much-awaited Life Enrichment Seminar to enlighten its customers on the various innovative offerings developed by the network to enhance their lives. The seminar, featuring American political strategist, David Plouffe as lead speaker, will hold at the New Expo Hall Eko Hotel, Lagos and at the A Class Park & Event Centre, Abuja on Wednesday December 15 and Thursday December 16 respectively.

Plouffe, author of “The Audacity to Win”, is widely acknowledged for his expertise in developing effective grassroots strategies, including that which resulted in the previously unimaginable in the history of American politics – the election of Barack Obama as the country’s first black president in 2008.

He will speak on the theme; “Delivering Greater value through Innovation” and also inspire his audience on how to use modern communication solutions to harness their goals and aspirations.

While announcing the new dates for the seminar which was postponed in October, Kola Oyeyemi, General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, reiterated the company’s commitment to its promise of adding value to the life of its customers through innovative platforms.
