Coalition of PDP Youth Wing of Delta South, Central Unit Stakeholders Forum Writes Natl. Chairman To Call Fmr. Gov. Okowa TO Order

It is with a heavy heart that we write this letter to the leadership of our dear party which we have been loyal to for decades.

We sincerely appreciate the dogged contribution of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in the emergence of the current Executive Governor of Delta State as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and also his eventual emergence as the Executive Governor at the 2023 General Elections. This feat should have made Okowa to assume the status of an Elders Statesman in Delta State .

Ironically,  this has not been the case since he handed over on May 29, 2023, as he has been carrying out clandestine activities to truncate and Jeopardise the activities of the current Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.  This was evident in the choice of Members of his Executive Council where he nominated almost everyone across the 25 Local Government Council of the State.

The Local Government Elections is here and he has imposed his cronies on not only the Executive Governor Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori,  but also the good people of Delta as it is normal that the Ruling Party in the State will eventually win all Local Government Areas in the forthcoming elections.

It is quite sad that he has turned himself into a Nebuchadnezzar of some sort simply because he feels entitled as the man who brought Sheriff Oborevwori into power but who brought him to power between 2015-2023 never did that to him.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, is one of the most selfish and ungrateful politician that has ever come out of Delta State,  and the South South Region of Nigeria.

It will be recalled that prior to the 2023 General Elections,  the South South PDP Governors met and agreed that the Presidency should be zoned to the South but he singlehandedly rubbished that resolution as their Chairman for his selfish political ambition to be the Vice-President to a Northern candidate.

This singular action of his polarized the PDP and eventually led to her losing key Party stakeholders to the opposition, which eventually led to the party losing the Presidential Elections.

We wish to put it on record that just as he is an ex-governor in Delta State from Delta North, there are Ex-Governors in both Delta Central and Delta South which makes all of them Leaders in their various Senatorial Zones. His interference in the selection of Chairmanship candidates from the three Senatorial District of Delta State is not only disrespectful,  abnormal, and insulting to these Ex-Governors but also an affront on the collective will of the entire leadership and Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Delta South and Delta Central.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa actions has clearly demonstrated that the current Executive Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori does not just have a grip over the affairs of the Party as the leader, but is a puppet to him.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, we will advise you to focus on your plots on how to unseat Senator Ned Nwoko in 2027 which you have been holding meetings with different people than wasting your precious time trying to turn Delta State into your personal enterprise as this will be resisted with the last drop of our blood.

Delta PDP Drifting Into Crisis Over Okowa's Ambition, Group Warns

A Socio-Political Group, Action Caucus has warned that except the National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to order over his overbearing tendency on the party and plans to impose council Chairmen in the forthcoming LG poll.

The group in a press release endorsed by its coordinator, Tetsoma Ayemidejo and Secretary, Elozonam Ugboma also called on well meaning Deltans to rise up against unhealthy godfatherism rearing it's head in the state in order to avoid the political debacle of Rivers State happening in Delta State.

The group noted that Okowa's high handedness, especially as it concerns the running of the affairs of the state, if not urgently checked, may snowball into crisis that will consume the party in the state.

It further added that Okowa has began to build political structure to unseat Senator Ned Nwoko, the Senator Representing Delta North by planting his stooges at the council.

In a statement by the coordinator of the group and made available to newsmen in Asaba on Wednesday, the group noted that the former Governor's action has also hampered the governor from delivering the much promised dividends of democracy to the people of Delta.

According to the group, the present issue that seems to be undermining the office of the Governor who is also the political leader of the PDP, is choice of the party's candidate for the forthcoming Local Government election in the state.

The group noted that Okowa has concluded plan to force his cronies as chairmen and other positions for the poll across the state.

"The reason for this is not far fetched; Okowa has not hidden is intention to go back to the senate come 2027.

"His preparation towards the ambition started as soon as Oborevwori was sworn in as Governor of Delta State where he (Okowa) single handedly handpicked almost all the Commissioners as well as other key positions for the incumbent Governor.

"Of course, he was instrumental to Oborevwori becoming the governor just as someone else was instrumental to him (Okowa) also becoming the governor, but his benefactor was not on his neck in the running of the state affairs.

"Okowa should  let Oborevwori be by assuming the status of an Elders Statesman in Delta State and not a godfather?

The group recalled that it was the former Governor ambition that contributed in no small means to the PDP misfortune in the 2023 Presidential election.
