I LOVE THIS AND THAT...!

I believe someone out there has a solution. For months, a fellow, who lives in the United States has been calling to find out about every 'babe' on the blog.
He wants to ‘lay’ everybody. Normally, I am used to incessant calls from guys who are interested in ladies. Babes call too, to find out about guys they like. Ofcourse, I believe people can find their life partners anywhere...including public toilets! There are people who are genuinely interested in having a blissful relationship with people they admire
but this particular fellow has been giving me hell and I have been very polite. There was a time he phoned and said, “Niyi, I am damn crazy about Stella Damasus. I really need you to get me her contact. I am gonna show her that no man got to love her as much as I do. I really need her to be the mother of my kids”
The other day, it was a babe he saw on the 'THISDAY post'. Another time he called again, saying he wouldn’t mind dating Stephanie Okereke since she is no longer with her husband. When I posted the story on Remi Fagbohun, he called me again… "Niyi, I have made up my mind about Remi. She lives in the US and I live in the US. You know what me saying? We can hook up and start a blissful life together”
Remi, who?” I asked.
Remi Fagbohun
“She is married, didn’t you read that?” I asked.
We dragged that for sometime until the guy stopped calling for a while. He resumed again few weeks back and he has been asking to date every babe again.
“That girl is out of this world man. I need to hook up with her” He said, referring me to the photograph of a lady that attended the Lagos International Polo Tournament. He even quoted the date. Some days ago, I was about leaving the office when he called again. After exchanging pleasantries, he asked for a 'favour'. I think the woman with the six kids (referring to the story on Lilian Ugboeke’s story http://niyitabiti.blogspot.com/2008/10/lilian-ugboeke-pretty-mother-of-six-set.html ) is actually amazing. She look chic and her body is just perfect. That is my kind of woman. I am sure she is Igbo. I don’t care what anyone says but I think I want her to be my wife? I have been trying her number I saw on the page.Niyi, can you connect us?”
Immediately he finished, something sparked on my head and I laughed uncontrollably.I also checked the number again to be sure that this person wasn’t calling me from a psychiatrist home (Yaba a pa osi) in Yankee!I think the guy's case is more of obsession than interest.Lets just pray he finds help with a dating site or someone who can 'load' words into his head!

IN REMEMBRANCE OF FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI:THE MOST INCREDIBLE MUSICIAN OF OUR TIME!

Story by Niyi Tabiti

Dead or alive, Fela Anikulapo Kuti remains the most enigmatic music phenomenon ever to come out of Nigeria. That is why his post humous birthday celebration has continued to attract thousands of people from all walks of life. This year’s edition is no exception as thousands of ardent music lovers who believe so much in ‘Fela-sophy’, music researchers and fans troop en masse to the new Afrikka Shrine (owned by his son, Femi Kuti) to pay ‘Baba 70’ homage even in death.Starting started on Tuesday 14 and ended on Sunday 19 October 2008.
Of course, it brought alive, the memories of the late ‘Abami Eda’ (The strange man) who lived and sang against corrupt practices in government. He was harassed by security agents, arrested and jailed at different times. So incredible was Fela that he would be remembered as the first Nigerian artiste who composed songs and openely berated military governments in power.Unknown Soldier, one of his popular songs was done after soldiers caused damages that led to his mother’s death durning the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo in the 70s.
Beyond Fela’s human rights activism, He was also known to have engaged in open display of ‘Indian hemp’ smoking.Perhaps, the reason why the Afrikka Shrine also went up in flames (lol) as young and old, rich and poor came to smoke that ‘thing’ that make them ‘high!’
He believed so much in African culture and tradition- the reason he changed his name his surname from Ransome-Kuti to 'Anikulapo' Kuti ( the one who has death in his pocket). He prroclaim the african worship of ifa divination and other gods as his own way of life.Known to have married 27 wives the same day before he divorced them in 1986, Fela died in 1997 due to what the family described as illness resulting from infection of the HIV/AIDS.
Today, Yeni, Femi and Seun the children he left behind seems to have taken his foot steps.Apparently, they are aware of the fact that they could only try but not wear the big shoe left behind by their father and mentor.
Dapo Oyebanjo, the Nigerian born musician popularly known as D'banj is one of the few entertainers in the world whose deft moves on stage anchor a similarity with that of Abami Eda but with a fusion of contemporary styles.

FELABRATION DAY 2: NA,OPPORTUNITY BE THIS O!

The one week long activities marking this year's post humous birthday of afro beat music legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti kicked off on Tuesday 14 October 2008. Yesterday, 15 October was tagged the special ladies night for the great abami eda and there was a large turn out last night till about 3 a.m today. Ashinoye, Weird Mc,Shan George and others performed. Its called Felabration and it is taking place at the new Afrikka Shrine,Ikeja,Lagos.
Last night, one of the performances was done by the young lady in this photo. In the cause of he performance, she asked that two young men who can dance should come and join her on the stage. Before one could shout 'jack!' tow guys came on stage. One of them is the guy dancing with her here. Everything about the young man shows that he had been 'hungry for it' for long.He was later sent off the stage. If not...that guy could have far more than we could have imagined. www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com thinks the guy was 'high' in the realm by the time he stepped on stage.

FRANK D’NERO READY FOR UK TOUR

Port Harcourt-based act Ibiba Frank Higwe is set to make a mark in the Nigerian music scene as he embarks on a tour around the UK. Song writer, performer and singer Frank D’Nero first hit the music scene in Port Harcourt Nigeria in 2003 alongside the now defunct group “Tuck Tyght Allstars”.
As a member of the group, he was a part of the album ‘Now Official’ which birthed the hit single ‘Suffer market’. ‘It is not like things were not going on well with Tuck Tyght All- Stars, but there is nothing as good as doing your own thing, so shortly after the successful album, I knew I had to move on which I did’ D’Nero commented.
His move further birthed the independent Label D’Large entertainment where he released the 100% mix tape; soon afterwards, he hit fans with the hit single “Kalangolo” which ruled the airwaves for months. Fresh from the success of the hit single, he dropped his full album “Kalangolo” which carries lots of energy along with it. The single from the album “Cure my Craze” is gradually gaining grounds on radio stations nationwide and is finding its way to the top of the charts. ‘The way the album was embraced was beyond my expectation, within the first three months of its release, the album went on to sell over seven thousand copies in the Niger Delta alone, I was amazed because I never expected such a reaction from fans. Then people started calling in from Lagos which I also did not expect’
He got yet another shocker when he was contacted to be a part of MTV base advance warning. ‘Really that was the height. It is not like I am undermining myself, but when I was contacted to partake in the advanced warning, I thought someone was trying to play a trick on me, but here I am, an artiste from the Niger delta being showcased alongside other promising acts in the Nigerian music industry’.
These days, Frank has been busy shuttling between studios and trying to make a mark in the Nigerian music scene. Having worked with the likes of Nigga raw, Mtrill, Timaya and P square. The hardworking act has decided not to relent, and keeps recording songs ‘my passion for music comes from within and I’d attribute my journey this far to hard work and dedication, this is what I have believed in throughout my career both as a producer and now as an artiste’ Frank D’Nero concluded With this acclaimed success coupled with the commitment and passion he holds for music, Roll-a-dice entertainment, a U.K and Nigerian based management label have taken him under their wing.
The label in joint effort with the Tonye Ibiama led Grafton team are putting together the 1st ever UK takeover tour which will feature Frank D’Nero as well as other acts signed to the Grafton label. ‘It is a dream come true for us to be working together with Frank as he is a very talented and focused individual and we are only sure that this will be history in the making” Donald Iro CEO of Roll a dice commented.

OREKELEWA BY TARA FELA DUROTOYE,SWE BAR OTHERS SET FOR RITA DOMINIC'S PRESENTATION!

Nollywood diva and fashion sophisticate, Miss Rita Dominic would be the centre attraction at a presentation in her honour slated for A-list celebrity hangout, Swe Bar, Onikan, Lagos on Saturday 11 October 2008. Top paparazzi, journalists and movie practitioners are expected to be part of the presentation.
Rita Dominic was adjudged the best dressed Nollywood actress following massive reactions and a poll conducted by Gistmaster, Nigeria’s foremost daily celebrity news/photos online tabloid. According to http://www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com/ the facilitators of the poll, Nigerians from different parts of the world tapped into the global opportunities of the internet to vote for their favorite stars and at the end of the poll spanning about 3 three months (we started in June), Rita Dominic came tops with the highest vote, closely followed by Genevieve Nnaji. We got thousands of comments, text messages and phone calls from lovers of the movie industry.
Apart from Swe Bar, the classy hangout for top celebrities, top make up artist, Orekelewa, a leading make up product owned by Tara Fela Durotoye and SHARE by Tosyn Bucknor are also co-sponsors of the event. Tara is a role model in Nigeria's beauty industry. She has done bridal make up for Nigeria's richest families.Right now, her fast moving make up line has provided employment opportunities to thousands of undergraduates and young school leavers.
A model in the United States of America has also sent us beautiful clothes as part of goodies meant for the winner.
We are overwhelmed by the massive reactions we got from Nigerians over the world. We saw many interesting comments. It was a real eye opener to the value glamour play in the acting business.
Apart from the votes, we took a step ahead by consulting with about 40 journalists and celebrities and at the end; Rita also emerged as the first. On and off screen, Rita continues to be a pacesetter in her well turned out fabric.
In her comment, Estella, a top fashion designer based in the America stated “As a Fashion Designer, I give her (Rita) the thmbsup! She dresses good. Nothing like what everyone else is wearing...she has her own style and not afraid to experiment.... Am looking forward to having her in one of my haute couture designs soon”
Mia a blogger commented thus “Rita, Omotola, Genevieve and Stephanie all look good for the most part. They all have their moments, but at the least they always look CLEAN, APPRORIATE, and PRESENTABLE. Let’s not forget that all four are in good shape (though in different sizes).
“Omotola, after four kids looks AMAZING! Stephanie always knows what looks good on her. Genevieve keeps it together and could loosen up sometimes but she is definitely a beautiful girl. And my favorite Rita ALWAYS keeps it NEAT and SIMPLE! From her hair to her makeup, she shows up to every event looking CLASSY!”
Another person wrote “RITAAAAAAAAAAAAAA all the way men. You could accuse her of anything, but in my book she could never be guilty of not dressing right and representing not just herself but Naija chicks well...she’s my girl any day”
Another reader figure out that “Like someone already said, this is not a popularity contest. Right Niyi? So when is comes to dressing, Rita gets it right for the most part on and off screen. She knows what suits her, her signature hair is always fresh and tidy. She takes risks, and is always interesting. Omotola is another one who gets it right all the time.
Stephanie is really good with gowns but her pants are always too short for her. Because of her height, she needs to shop in "tall women" for trousers. Dakore should definitely be on this list. She is gorgeous; she's fit, and very trendy. Kate also should be on the list. Genevieve on the other hand would be #1 or 2 on best actress, but not on this list.
An entertainmen journalist states “Truth be told, I cannot get past counting on one hand the ladies in Nollywood that should go for best dressed. But am going be nice and try to raise the number to more than 5. Hey ladies we talking best dressed here and good looking or beautiful and blah blah blah, lets not stray ok?Here is my review.
“I honestly think Rita is the best dressed. She always turns up simple and elegant. Even in her movies, I have never caught her looking off or dressed awfully. Her jewellery is always on point with what she wears and the functions. It takes a fashion conscious person to know the sort of fashion that suits the function.
She pays attention to her skin color-cloth selection (part of the reason she does not look like a disco light or appear dirty unlike some people we know in Nollywood). Though I must admit Rita takes some risk that turn out flawless. She probably has the same fleshy body like ini but she hides yet flaunts her body without looking like a TRAMP! I give her 89%. Well her low point is her signature headties……first they well cool now they are so old,so predictable.
Stella Damasus on the other hand just like Rita cannot be caught dressing awful. She keeps her game tight. She just does it without effort which is probably the difference. On set and off set she dresses amazingly well. She gets 85% for being her…..a natural fashionista! “People have ignored Dakore……why? She dresses well. Never overdoes it or makes an effort about her dressings. Though wearing on type of hair (dreads) could blind some people’s fashion 3rd eye I can look beyond it. I know when people tend to wear the same hair it makes people overlook details. Dakore in her movies looks just great and looks even better away from the set. She is HAWT! She surprises with her dressing because to those who overlook the details, they think Dakore and their minds think “pair of pants and top with amazing healthy dreads” but HELL NAW!!! She is not afraid to surprise us with her –BE SPOKE style. She gets 82%”
Lesson-Dressing is not how much it cost you to buy your Tommy Hilfiger, Prada or any label but wearing the right thing at the right time. We have taken photos of most red carpet events in Nigeria and found out that in the process of imitating Hollywood stars, our celebrities often make some obvious mistakes.for instance "don't wear evening gown to a boat cruise!"
