For Adewopo Adebambo, it is goodbye to the Nigeria Copyrights Commission (NCC) after years of handling the affairs of the government parastatal as  Director General.

Gistmaster.com gathered that Adebambo, a lawyer was relieved of his position yesterday (8 December 2010). We gathered it may not have been unconnected with the recent controversies sorrounding the granting of Collecting Society of Nigeria (COSON) led by Mr. Tony Okoroji the license as the sole collecting society in Nigeria. The Musical Society of Nigeria (MCSN) led by Mayo Ayilaran and Orits Wiliki protested what they call unfair treatment as they were allowed to operate. They said they met all the requirement and were already in existent. MCSN also said it has been paying royalties to musicians before that time citing the lieks of King Sunny Ade, K1 the Ultimate, Tuface Idibia and others as example.

The protest, which was led by Charly Boy, Tee Marc, Kenny Ogungbe (of Primetime Entertainment and Kennis Music) was staged to the office of NCC at the Federal Secretariat Abuja. Protesters later matched to the office of Mr. Adoke (SAN) the Minister of Justice and Attoney General of the Federation. The minister promised to look into the issue and proffer the right solution to the issue on ground.
