The organised Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress (TUC) announced after the meeting with the Federal Government that the strike actions embarked upon by Nigerians will continue as no compromise was reached at the meeting with the Federal Governmemt over the controversial fuel increase in the country.
Millions of Nigerians
last week joined the protests on the street lamenting the untold hardship the fuel increase has caused since New Year day. The NLC had insited at the meeting that the pump prices of fuel in Nigeria should be reverted back to N65 per litre instead of the imposed price of N141 by the government citing the removal of subsidy.
The federal government side was led by President of the senate, Mr. David Mark. Some state governors led by the Chairman of the Governors forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi were present at the meeting.Ministers of petroleum, Mrs. Diezeni Allison Madueke and her countrparts in the finance ministry, Mrs.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as well as Mr. Adoke, the minister of Justice formed part of the government side of the talks with labour.
The Nigerians president, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan and his deputy, Architect Namadi Sambo were both absent from the meeting, according to the reports monitored by Gistmaster
