“I AM TIRED OF TRAFFIC PROBLEMS”

Story & Pix by Niyi Tabiti
Chief Reporter

Rotimi Martins, the self styled king of cross over music and event compere, popularly known as Alariwo of Africa, this afternoon disclosed to http://www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com/ that he is tired of traffic congestion in Lagos.
That is why he now abandons the luxury of his cars and also waived aside his celebrity status so as to patronize commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as ‘Okada’ riders in Lagos. This will allow him get to his destinations faster. On sighting Alariwo on a commercial ‘bike’ this afternoon at (GRA) Ikeja, yours truly brought out his camera. He saw me but laughed and said “This is how I survive traffic congestion in Lagos. I am tired of it!”

SHAN GEORGE,NIGERIA'S TOP ACTRESS, RELEASES ALBUM

Story & pix by Niyi Tabiti
Chief Reporter

One of Nigeria’s most controversial actresses, Shan George has released her debut album. She has also penciled down 17 February 2008 for the launch. The venue is Nightshift Coliseum, Ikeja; Lagos. She confirmed it to http://www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com/ this afternoon (25 January, 2007)
According to the Cross River State born mother of two boys, the album launch would definitely be a talk of the town event. She disclosed that several top fashionistas, musicians, actresses, models and important dignitaries would be in attendance. The controversial actress later played the album for yours truly to hear it in her jeep.
Entitled Nkenkene, a word meaning let’s celebrate in her local Buguma dialect, the album is her debut as a musician. She has appeared in close to a hundred home videos.
All the 8 tracks in the album were made in her local dialect. Shan told www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com, that she does not pretend to be the ‘international see it all’ kind of person. She would rather promote the rich culture of Nigeria. The T-shirt she was wearing when I met her on Allen Avenue Ikeja, has the logo of the Nigerian International passport while the back has the inscription “No Shaking”
Shan George has joined the league of top Nigerian actresses who have diversified into music. Others include Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jolade-Ekehinde and Lillian Bach. One of her Shan’s friends told me she has succeeded in showing people that she is a complete entertainer. My camera went to work as the wondrous actress later posed for shots.Thereafter; she zoomed off with Momoh, her younger lover, in a black coloured jeep.

READERS WE ARE SORRY ABOUT THE ERRORS

It thought it was a joke until I realised that people love the blog more than I do.Initially, I thought I could just play with it until I saw the comments, text and phone calls.I thank all the people that have 'yabbed"me concerning the spelling and grammatical errors. That is why i am pleading that you pardon us for the 'englishes'(oyinbo re pe te)
Last night I had a meeting with four people who studied my blog. They all told me the same thing-Niyi "farabale' (I should be patient) when typing and I should read over and over again before posting.Secondly, I should change my style because the blog appeal is not local but universal.Alot of Nigerians abroad are reading and they may not be in tune the style.
I must thank Catherine Asigbe, the babe who told me that next week is my internet week. She said i need to have internet connection on my laptop. This would ensure that i don't have to rush to the stinking cafe down street.A place where you have all manners of people drinking (imagine in a cafe) and shouting because they have just chatted with their 'maga'.This morning, I am going to buy a land phone.Next week,i will pay N15,000 for internet connection. Now, I know that this blog thing is serious matter.
One thing about me is that I have never deleted any comment on this blog. That is the truth and nothing but the truth.I don't even know how to do that right now.Believe me, I realised quite late that even when you post a story, you can edit it later.Immediately,I post a story (I usually post in a hurry) , I read through and I found out there was a mistake,I see myself as a fool and thought there was nothing I could do again to correct it.I never knew I could edit and re-post.Last night, I got the tutorial. In fact, I also got to know how to check the traffic of readers that yesterday.
Linda Ikeji,my friend who introduced me to this 'blog' thing only thought me how to post.We had no time to check the other areas.Once again,I am very sorry for all this mistakes. Vera,I saw your comment on the blog and I must tell you that I was very impressed. You told me the truth.I would love to meet you one of these days. After reading some comments, one would go to bed having a nightmare. One would sleep and a bull will start pursuing him.Vera's own, just like that of many people was not a personal thing, it was straight to the point and constructive.
Why did I call these four people I told you earlier?Well, it was in a bid to forge ahead.I felt bad about the comments on the errors.Femi Ayinla told me last night that people want me to do the whole thing in a big form."They love what you are doing but they want you to be patient while posting the stories.Niyi,I have read you in the past and I believe you in you.Give more time to editing before doing your posting"He said
He also told me to get atleast a staff. He promised to give me money to pay the staff for the first month. While writing this piece, he told me the money is ready and someone should come and pick it.I am happy because I can now employ someone as online assistant. In a newspaper house, you have about three to four people editing and re-editing what must have been written by a reporter or an editor before it goes to printing press. The end product is just what you see out there. The big websites in the USA and others have people doing things for them and they have huge resources at their disposal. That is not an excuse for me.What your 'boy' needs for now are words of encouragement. There is no organization without problems at the starting point.
Please read this piece and tell me if I did not farabale' enough.Thank you and I promise from Saturday, this website will have a lovely post.I remember that I had done several PR jobs for corporate entities and individuals without such complaints.I told myself,i just have to give this thing more time. Please check the posts from tommorrow and you will will be glad.
All the people that have also commended me, I appreaciate your comments. If there is a mistake on this post please, use your biro and correct it.Eyin temi...encourage mi!

Thank you all!

To my brother who wants to learn punctuation from this blog, abeg go back to English class,i no be Wole Soyinka...this is a blog and the purpose is to reach the audience...celebrity journalism has its own style.People who writes such comments are usually hypocrites who are not in anyway better. This is a blog,it is even meant to be in 'shorthand'
Read story, look picture let continue to enjoy.I got one of the culprits of the bad comments on the blog...the person is even my friend and he works with...one day i would tell the dark dude that no matter the situation we shall get there.May walk and never stumble,if you are a 'carriable' soul then marry the ponmo and let the 'songito' give us the woro and let the palmwine flow. The blog is two weeks.Thank you for encouraging me and i promise that i am going to be building a team to help me out soon.
Someone promised to send me a laptop whenever the opportunity arises.Someone also promised to send N5000 to help us.A bank is already showing interest and i believe by then there would be enough resources to do all thjis work with many people. For now,it is only your brother that is doing the whole stuff.
Thank you!
