NEWS : REACH OUT TO KOSI

Yes , this is not our usual style, but when it gets to situations like this, we can not but help to extend a helping hand in whatever way we can. 

The little girl you see in the above picture is -Kaosisochukwu Chime,  a 4 year old girl with angiosarcoma of the liver. This is a rare form of cancer and cannot be treated in Nigeria (the diagnosis had to be done in England). She was discharged from LUTH and told to seek treatment abroad. Her parents are unable to afford the N7 million (approximately GBP 29,000) needed to cover her travel expenses, feeding, surgery, drugs and radiation treatment. We are appealing to people to help raise funds for this beautiful little girl.

NEWS :AMBER ROSE IN NIGERIA- TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

This is the question that has been making the rounds , and in our usual investigative manner , we reached the publicist company handling the event and this was the release that was issued .

Early yesterday morning, one of the major headliners of the highly anticipated show, Music Meets Runway, Amber Rose tweeted that she will not be coming to Nigeria to host Music Meets Runway 2011.

Due to recent developments of Amber Roses nude photos that surfaced on the internet last week, we were in discussion as to what to do about the situation with some of our sponsors who had understandably shown some concern (brand affiliation)

We were still working to accommodate Amber when we read Amber Roses tweet about her not being booked to host Music Meets Runway.

Amber has indeed been booked and paid for through a reputable international booking agent and we were shocked as anyone to see the tweet.

This situation is under investigation and details will be passed as more information comes.

The show, Music Meets Runway WILL STILL HOLD comes Saturday, July 9 at Expo Center, Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

Music Meets Runway is an event poised & designed to create awareness for the laudable and fledging growth the Nigerian fashion industry which has been placed on the international map in recent times.

The event won’t be all about fashion as 10 musical artistes will also grace the runway, dishing out hits after hits.

It will be a great networking opportunity for fashion industry, professionals including educators, retail buyers, fashion journalists, trendsetters and consumers.

SKYE BANK GMD, KEHINDE DUROSINMI-ETTI SENT TO PRISON

The Group managing Director of Skye Bank, Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi Etti has been committed to prison over contempt charges by a Federal High Court In Lagos.
Gistmaster.com gathered that problem for the Skye Bank MD started when he disobeyed a order of the court in a case involving Desange Nigeria Limited and the Nigeria Custom Service.

Desange won a case against the Nigeria Customs in 2010.The court ordered Customs to pay Desange but it didn't, so the company applied for an order to garnishee the account of customs in five different banks namely Zenith Bank,GTBANK, Sterling Bank,Skye Bank and UBA.

While the other banks complied with the court directive to pay the judgment sum, Skye Bank defied.Attempt by the Durosinmi-Etti led bank to get an objection to the garnishee proceeding was thrown out by the court as lacking in merit.

Eventually, Skye Bank decided to issue a cheque to the tune of about N11 million (Eleven Million Naira) but when the company presented the same cheque it was not honoured by the bank.

The directors of Desange were infuriated by this act and they applied to the court to commit Durosimi- Etti should be commuted to prison. The court accepted their prayer. Justice Archibong also said the Skye Bank MD should pay N5 million and also remain in prison until he is ready to make amends.

Others listed in the contemptuous  case include the  Chairman of Skye Bank , Chief (Mrs.) Morenikeji Onasanya and other directors of the bank such as Timothy Oguntayo Abimbola Izu,  Gbenga Ademulegan, Dotun Adeniyi, Amaka Onwugbalu, and Ibiye.

In his reaction, Kayode Akinyemi, Head of corporate affairs of Skye Bank said the case is already before an appeal court so the Federal High Court has no power to entertain the case anymore.

 

 

NIGERIANS CONDEMN UBA MIMINUM BALANCE OF N25000

There are strong indications that the alleged minimum balance of  N5,000 and N25,000 being imposed by a Nigerian Bank, UBA plc on it customers might hit a brickwall with many Nigerians condemning it.

At the moment, there is a strong campaign going round that people should condemn the act.

An email sent to Gistmaster today reads "UBA and 25000 Balance !Naija is a country where the minimum wage of N18,000 is still being debated on by those criminals that govern us. To add insult to injury, UBA has the audacity to make their minimum balance N25,000 from today 4/7/11, but they must be taught a lesson.

"We must not keep silent. If you have an account with UBA, even if u have millions, just transfer your money to a more reasonable bank and close the UBA account.Their stupid management will have to either bank their own personal money or eat their words!!! And please spread this message on ur facebook, twitter,BBM and to the grassroots, so they get the message!!! MTN experience has shown that these kind of broadcast works. We have to help ourselves in Naija because our leaders aren't interested in us!!!. JOIN us in comdemning this charade,retrogressive and anti masses policy. CBN Started this nonesense limiting amount of daily withdrawals"
