The 8-day Fidau prayers for late Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo, the Baba Adinni of Nigeria took place at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos,yesterday.
Eminent personalities from far and near graced the event.Expectedly,it was a 'harvest' of fashion and style as Nigerian women came to outshine one another in thir wondrous fashion designs.Beads and jewelleries was also heavily on display.

Folawiyo is one of Nigeria's richest men when he was alive.He made his mark in the business.He also has several children who are successful in different fields. IBADAN STANDS STILL FOR ADEDIBU

The remains of Chief (Alhaji) Lamidi Adedibu the strong man of 'Amala' politics is expected to be committed to mother earth today in Ibadan.The late politician and godfather of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State died yesterday at the Intensive Care Unit of UCH Ibadan.He was 80.
According to latest news getting to www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com , the ancient city of Ibadan is at a standstill for Adedibu.Most markets did not open,secondary school students are at home because of the passage of Adedibu.Primary school teachers began a warning strike accross the Nigeria yesterday so the pupils are enjoying their 'compulsory' holiday.
Naturally,civil servants also used the opportunity to relax at home while those who can make it stormed the residence of Adedibu popularly known as 'Alafin Molete' this morning.

According to those who spoke with http://www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com/ from Ibadan, market women, artisans and even bankers hurried home after it was apparent in Ibadan that tghe man had passed on to the great beyond.It should be recalled that Adedibu, popularly regarded as the grand patron of 'Amala' politics was recently discharged from a high brow hospital.He was addressed the press some days back over the controversial five million Naira hospital bill said to have been paid from the coffers of Oyo State Government.

He was the defactor 'Governor General' of Oyo State.All those who were intrested in any electoral post had to seek his favour before they could be elected.

Good or bad, Adedibu was regarded as a very influential politician.Former President Olusegun Obasanjo once regarded him as the father of PDP (Peoples Democratic Party).When he had a misunderstanding with ex-Governor Rasheed Ladoja, the former governor of Oyo State, he told him he would be removed and replaced by his deputy (Alao Akala) and it came to pass.

Students of University of Ibadan durning the military junta of General Sani Abacha had several confrontations with Adedibu for supporting the 'Abacha in office forever' campaign.

LAGOS STATE DECLARES PUBLIC HOLIDAY ON JUNE 12

Tommorow is the democracy day in Lagos and it has been declared a public holiday by Mr.Babatunde Raji Fashola,the Governor of Lagos State.It is in honour of late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.This tradition started durning the tenure of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who happens to be Fashola's mentor and predecessor in office.
The late Aare Onakankafo of Yorubaland was believed to have won the June 12,1993 presidential election in Nigeria.However, the election which was adjudged the freest and fairest in Nigerian history was annulled by the Military government of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.When IBB was sent packing from government, he brought Chief Ernest Shonekan as Head of the Interim Government. After some months, Shonekan was removed by General Sani Abacha in a palace ‘coup’.
Abiola died in detention in detention trying to reclaim his June 12 electoral mandate in 1998. He died almost a month after General Abacha died in mysterious circumstances.

X-PROJECT,KONGA SETTLES RIFT

The much talk about rift between fast rising musician, Konga and members of the popular group-Project has been settled.
The quarrel started when the Konga’s name was missing on the first set of the Sierra Naija album. The album featured the hit track ‘Lorile’ and it won the Hip Hop Song of the Year at the last Nigeria Music Award in Imo State, Nigeria.
Konga confirmed that the rift has been settled. According to him, there is bound to be misunderstanding but the whole thing has been resolved. Members of X-Project confirmed the gist but they blamed the omission of Konga’s name from the album cover the printer's omission. "It was not as if we never wanted to give Konga credit for his contribution toward the success of the album but the name was omitted by the printer",they explained.
