 Baba Suwe has been released today from the custody of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after spending 24 days in detention based on suspicion of trafficking in hard drugs.  Baba Suwe who was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on his way to attend a ceremony in Paris, France in October was ordered to be released some on Tuesday by the Justice Yetunde Idowu of the Lagos High Court.  The bail condition of N500,000 and one surety in like sum was provided and Baba Suwe was released. However, a source close to the Yoruba popular actor said he might not be going home for security reasons. Beside, Baba Suwe need to rest and he would not have the capacity to attend to the huge tun out of visitors who might want to pay him solidarity visit.

  Reprieve came the way of Baba Suwe, the famous comedian/actor this morning when Justice Yetunde Idowu  granted him bail to the tune of N500,000 and one surety in like sum. However, the judge said if by Friday, Baba Suwe did not excrete any drug, then he deserves to go home.     The judge said the continued detention of the actor amounts to a violation of his fundamental human rights. She also noted that she would have allowed him to go home if the bail was perfected today but for the Federal High Court detention order granted NDLEA, the order is expected to expire on Friday 4 November 2011. Baba Suwe was also present in court as ordered by the judge. who was arrested some weeks back by Nigeria's drug law enforcement agency on suspicion of trafficking in narcotics.  The NDLEA lawyer, Mr. Femi Oloruntoba admitted that the case of Baba Suwe is unprecedented. No suspect have stayed this long before excreting drugs in detention.The highest that they seen is 15 days.   The judge a

 Baba Suwe, the actor/comedian that was arrested some weeks back by the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency on suspicion of trafficking in hard drugs would be in court this morning.A Lagos High Court judge had ordered the appearance of the actor based on an application by his lawyer to enforce his fundamental human rights.   However, the NDLEA said that it is confident that what the scanning machine detected inside the actor was hard drugs and nothing else. When it is time, he will definitely excrete the drugs. Some people are already of the notion that Baba Suwe's stay in NDLEA custody is getting too long. It is either the agency get it to the roots of the matter fast or they let Baba Suwe go home.  Baba Suwe was arrested on his way to France.

 Barrister Kunle Adegoke a lawyer representing Baba Suwe, the popular Yoruba movie star has dragged the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to court.Baba Suwe was arrested last week on suspicion of possessing  illicit drugs while on his way to Paris, France.    The actor's lawyer said that would be suing for damages up to the tune of N100 million.Already, he said a case with number ID/745/2011 has already been filed at the Federal High Court. Gistmaster however gathered that another lawyer also addressed the media recently saying he would sue NDLEA on behalf of the comic to the tune of N1 Billion (Naira).  After a week in detention and three excretion with test absorbing him of trafficking hard drugs, Baba Suwe  is ready to enforce his fundamental human rights and also seek compensation for the illegal detention and disrepute that the embarrassment of the arrest has caused him.

 The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement agency (NDLEA) told the media that Babatunde Omidina the popular comedian also known as Baba Suwe has excreted for the second time since his arrest on Wednesday but no drug has been found yet on him.  The EFCC also said Baba Suwe is still under observation.   If Baba Suwe is found to be innocent at the end of the exercise, watchers believe that NDLEA would have to contend with him over the huge embarrassment the arrest has caused him.
