Alphonsus Obi Igbeke, the senator representing Anambra North is to be arrested and brought before the magistrate court in Abuja for forgery. According to magistrate Attahiru Alkali, the senator should be arrested based on the allegations that he presented forged papers before the court, which mislead the court into passing judgement in his favour as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the last election. Senator Igbeke took over from Senator Joy Mordi in 2010 after an appeal court declared her election null and void. President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria on behalf of the Federal Republic of Nigeria compensated the families of Youth Corpers who lost their lives during the violent riot that took place in Bauchi and other parts of northern Nigeria.
