Aregbesola, who was a commissioner for works  in Lagos State, contested the election with Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2007 but had to go through a three year legal battle before judgment eventually came his way. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Oyinlola as Governor shortly after the conduct of the election in 2007 The court granted the prayers of Engineer Aregbesola on four out of the five counts he brought before the  election appeal tribunal. Dany Atrache has carved a niche for himself in the world of fashion and he remains one of the world most sought after designer of this generation. He was received at the airport amidst pomp and ceremony.
