IBADAN STANDS STILL FOR ADEDIBU

By Niyi Tabiti Chief Reporter The remains of Chief (Alhaji) Lamidi Adedibu the strong man of 'Amala' politics is expected to be committed to mother earth today in Ibadan.The late politician and godfather of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State died yesterday at the Intensive Care Unit of UCH Ibadan.He was 80. LAGOS STATE DECLARES PUBLIC HOLIDAY ON JUNE 12

By Niyi Tabiti Chief Reporter Tommorow is the democracy day in Lagos and it has been declared a public holiday by Mr.Babatunde Raji Fashola,the Governor of Lagos State.It is in honour of late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.This tradition started durning the tenure of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who happens to be Fashola's mentor and predecessor in office. The late Aare Onakankafo of Yorubaland was believed to have won the June 12,1993 presidential election in Nigeria.However, the election which was adjudged the freest and fairest in Nigerian history was annulled by the Military government of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.When IBB was sent packing from government, he brought Chief Ernest Shonekan as Head of the Interim Government. After some months, Shonekan was removed by General Sani Abacha in a palace ‘coup’. Abiola died in detention in detention trying to reclaim his June 12 electoral mandate in 1998. The quarrel started when the Konga’s name was missing on the first set of the Sierra Naija album. The album featured the hit track ‘Lorile’ and it won the Hip Hop Song of the Year at the last Nigeria Music Award in Imo State, Nigeria. Konga confirmed that the rift has been settled. According to him, there is bound to be misunderstanding but the whole thing has been resolved. Members of X-Project confirmed the gist but they blamed the omission of Konga’s name from the album cover the printer's omission. "It was not as if we never wanted to give Konga credit for his contribution toward the success of the album but the name was omitted by the printer",they explained. TOTO ABUGA BURIAL SLATED FOR TOMMOROW
